Okay i really need an answer or even advice will work for me. For about four months now i have had itching, burning, some swelling down there.. Now this is extremely embarrassing for me and i pretty much dont talk about this kind of stuff to anybody, but its gotten to the point where it comes and goes and i just dont want it to be anything serious. The symptoms sound just like a yeast infection so i have been told. four months ago when i started to get these yeast infections i went to my obgyn he checked for kidney infection, bladder infection etc... he couldn't really find anything but gave me some medicine similar to vagisil. I am in so much pain and just wish what ever it is it would go away. I thought maybe it could be because i take paxil and acid reflux medicine but i really dont know. If anybody could give me advice i would greatly appriciate it. Thanks :)

What can I do next?

Go to the obgyn. You could have bacteria vaginosis or something else might be going on. There is no reason for you to sit around it pain! Go get some help and don't be afraid to tell them exactly whats going on. That is what they are there for---to help you! Best wishes and feel better soon!

You sound very uncomfortable....3 days and I'd be asking for help....not 4 months.

Some recommendations:
#1 - take a bath with both salt and white vinegar or apple cider vinegar. About 1 C each. The salt is naturally anti-bacterial and the vinegar normalizes the Ph in your vagina.

#2 - start taking PRO-biotics. Available just about everywhere now. Or eating organic yogurts. Or both.

#3 - start ingesting Apple Cider Vinegar...in your salads, on an avocado - daily, diluted in water

#4 - have you tried an OTC yeast cream like Monistat? If so, what were the results? Did it help?

#5 - If the cream did not help, you can also try regular diaper ointments, like A&D, Desitin, etc.

Wear only cotton underwear and only loose fitting pants or skirts. No tight jeans, no thongs until your itching and burning is relieved.

And if you do respond positively to the Monistat creams / inserts, it's quite possible you have infected your underwear over this amount of time, and even if you clear up, you can reinfect yourself with the same underwear. And there is no killing a fungus in underwear. Throw it away and buy new. Sorry...but you're worth it.

And - no soap. Do not use any soap on your private parts until this is cleared up. And take some Motrin or Alleve to help reduce the swelling, but only for 3 days.

I can't say what it is because I'm not a doctor, but if you are on acid reflux medicine then you are having digestive difficulties so it could be a yeast infection.

Try this. Go to a health food store and buy Braggs brand Apple Cider vinegar. It has to be Braggs brand with "The Mother" in it or it won't work. It will be cloudy with stuff floating in it.

Dilute the apple cider vinegar, 1/2 vinegar and 1/2 water. Soak a washcloth or paper towel in it and apply to your area. It may burn or sting at first, especially if it's irritated. If it burns too much then make a sitz bath. Fill the tub up with warm water so that it just covers your area. Then add a cup of apple cider vinegar and soak yourself.

If it's a yeast infection the apple cider vinegar may burn, but it will be followed by RELIEF!! It will stop the itching and burning, probably for a few hours.

You'll need to take some acidophillus to help with your digestion. The apple cider vinegar will cure a yeast infection, especially if you soak in it daily--even 2 times a day if you're symptoms are bad. If it's not a yeast infection it won't hurt you, and it won't do anything.

You can also douche with a tiny bit of apple cider vinegar and warm, distilled water. That usually clears up my yeast infections in a few days.

Good luck!

Apart from this possibly being anything more serious, try this.. drinks LOTS of water and take what I take for yeast.. Capryl.. it kills off the over abundance of yeast.. however, because of this, when taken, you DO want to drink lots and lots of water to help rid your body of it.... This stuff works miracles and I don't know why doctors don't recommend it.. instead, the prescribe stuff for the outside of the body.. and while you do get symptoms there, the yeast actually begins in the gut..... also, things, like sugar, fermented and cured foods can make the yeast worst.. as does white flour products and quite possibly whatever is in your medicine..
I suspect that since you are taking acid reflux medicine that you may not be digesting as well as possible , in which case, undigested foods particles can also make yeast grow..... view yeast as a mold if you will.... ever leave a piece of bread out.. notice how it grows mold and the longer you leave it , the more mold it gets... well, yeast in our gut is the same.... it loves to be left alone... aided with things like sugar and other things mentioned above... and if left unattended by for example, lack of water, good bacteria (which your meds may be killing) then you are left with a mine field of yeast... there is much literature on the net .. but as mentioned, try lots of water and capryl.. you can pick up the tablers at a whole foods or other health food stores..

my best to you,

I'd suggest you see a natural medicine physician, not solely the regular allopathic drug-prescribing doctors if you want a lasting resolution of things. For infectious conditions I would suggest an alkalizing diet and either high doses of natural vitamin C or small doses of a liquid mineral compound called MMS (miracle mineral solution), mixed in water. MMS can be used topically as well as internally, it is sold as water purification drops.

honestly my mother-in-law & (ironically, 2 yrs later) my step-mother had exact same horrible symptoms and my MIL went and had surgery, and I think my SM did too, but she would never ever tell me - some real issue that has to do with skin, and an extra flap of it getting infected.
Not yeast, vagisil, or any other prescription cream worked on either....very painful, I'm told....it has a real name but you have to Google it.
Best of luck...

Sounds like you already got a few good suggestions here. I agree that you need to see another Dr for a 2nd opinion. The only thing that wasn't brought up is are you sexually active? If so and condoms are being used or some other contraceptive maybe you're having an allergic reaction? I could be way off but just a thought. I'm not familiar with BV mentioned below, but that's certainly something to mention to the Dr. as well. Don't be shy about telling (and showing) the Dr everything and even suggesting possible issues; doctors know a lot but they don't always think of every possibility so we have to be our own advocates! Hang in there and best wishes for a speedy diagnosis and recovery!!

I would go to the doc you are probably looking at Bacterial Vagenitis (BV) and need medication for it ... it happens but left untreated will only become more bothersome. In the meantime I would take baking soda baths and let yourself air out after.

Research Candida Yeast Overgrowth and see if your diet (sugar, gluten, dairy) makes it worse. If so, find a doctor that believes in it and will treat it.

Please listen to Livinglife&LovingIt...go to the OB/GYN ans get tested for persistent BVV (bacterial vaginosis/vaginitis). They should use a vaginal swab and you will have the results back in about two days.

You are more patient than I am, I couldn't wait four days!! I would see another physician instead of your regular OB/GYN. Good luck!
