you should get her to a dentist ASAP. the tooth/teeth might need to come out. she may already have an infection if she has a swelling too. hope she feels better soon.
My 15yo is getting wisom teeth, ugh! He is experiencing nausia, jaw pain, and headaches on top of the normal breaking through pain. I used ice and orajel for mine but they wern't this difficult. Would love your ideas! Poor thing is only getting 20 mins relief with a full dose if ibprophin.
Well, surgery is the answer. He has a mild infection and that is what is causing the pain. The dentist gave him antibiotics and a mild perscription for pain. I'll keep the house stocked with your sugestions as it will be a few weeks before he can get the surgery done. Every thing is straight and no impactions, just not enough room so it will be simple. Thank you all so much!

You should call the dentist and make sure that everything is alright with his mouth and that there is enough room for the wisdom teeth. The dentist can also give you a stronger pain medication if warranted.
Hi D.,
He might need to go see his dentist for some pain medication. Try giving him some ginger root for the nausea, and maybe some naproxen for pain. Also, I read that cloves help with dental pain. You can make a sort of paste with powdered cloves and apply it directly to the site with a swab, but I tried it when I've had tooth pain, and it didn't help me.
The dentist might suggest that he get them removed. My oral surgeon told me that if mine erupted, I'd need to get them removed. Said their eruption exposed the tissue below them to infection because it was like 'an open wound'. So far, I've had one removed, one erupted, and two still not come through nor removed(it's very expensive), and all 4 of my back molars have been extracted.
I hope your son feels better soon.
It was pretty bad when my one wisdom tooth came in.

The only relief I ever found was when I finally had oral surgery to get them removed. If this is an option, I would recommend it. I put up w/all those horrible symptoms for several years before getting them removed. I haven't had any of the nausea, jaw pain, or head pain since! Hope this helps!
I didn't have enough room in my mouth for my Wisdom teeth to come in. I "teethed" for 3 years. Sometimes it would come and go. My mom and dad's grew in just fine no problem. Some people are different than others.
He needs to have them removed. Because my wisdom teeth could not come in, I had to have them removed by an Oral Surgeon. They put me completely under anethesia. It took longer than it should because they were so impacted. I was out for the rest of the day (I don't remember the ride home), I was given pain killers (I really needed them too). I couldn't eat solids for a week (the usual was 2-3 days). I haven't had any problems since. I was 17 when I had them removed.
He must have them removed. That is your only solution. I know his dentist will agree.
I would call the dentist and get a perscription for a heavier duty numbing agent and some pain meds like maybe tylenol with codine or something like that....
I completely second checking in with the dentist to make sure there's room for them, and for things like if they're on their sides, etc. Best to you both!
Time for the dentist and oral surgeon. It sounds as though your son's wisdom teeth have bony impactions. It's probably going to require surgery to give him the relief he needs. Everyone's experience with wisdom teeth is unique. In the mean time, provide him with whatever works to relieve the pain, it could be ice packs, it might be moist heat. Advil, Tylenol for the pain. Take him to the dentist asap. It will make life so much easier for him.
Buy cloves in the spice section of the grocery store. Not ground cloves, but whole ones. He can bite down on them. I just had all four of my WT taken out because they were impacted. This gave me some relief, the taste isn't great but not too bad
Have you ever tried the ohsu dental programthey have doctors and students with the most up to date care. I have used them for years and have been very happy.
Hi D.,
My name is R. and work from home with a wellness company out of ID. My company offers almost 400 different everyday necessity products that are all free of any harsh or harmful chemicals and toxins. One of the key ingredients in about 40% of our products is tea tree oil. We have the purest form of the oil out there. I would suggest trying our oil, and to apply it directly to your son's tooth and the surrounding gum with a cotton swab to achieve immediate relief. Feel free to email me at ____@____.com for more info on how you can try our products for yourself... Good Luck!!!
Get them pulled. Most people dont have enough room in their mouth for the teeth to come in.
He might not have room for them to come and in may have to have them removed? My son is 12 and had to have 1 of his widsom teeth removed because it was pushing on this 12 year molars. Just a thought! Good luck.
I, too, recommend having an evaluation done by a dentist. Both my daugher and I had our's pulled while not much older than your son. My daughter's medical insurance paid a large part of the cost for the removal. Problems with wisdom teeth, at that time and with that insurance, BC/BS, were considered a medical problem. We didn't have dental insurance. That may not be so now, 10 years later, but it's worth checking into.
You should get him into the dentist. I started getting mine in two days after i got braces off. So they did an emergency removal of them. But if they are causing him that much pain they could be compacted or coming in the wrong way lets just say there could be alot going on back there. If you are ok with it they will probably give him stronger pain meds too until you can get him into seet he dentist. Watch him for migraines and what not to that sort of pain can lead to all sorts of problems. congrats on the new baby girl too by the way!!
I recommend Hylands teething pills. These are located in the natural health food sections of most grocery stores and drug stores carry this product as well. It worked for my son. I would also talk to the dentist to make sure his teeth are growing in the right way.
Take him to a dentist - I had that same issue they were impacted and had to be removed - if I had waited longer they would have actually cut them out in my neck.
Have you taken him to the dentist? Now adays wisdom teeth are usually extracted because there isn't enough room for them or they are coming in at weird angles. Maybe they won't be able to cut through and if they are pushing their way through it may shift the other teeth.
Hi D. - I would take him to your dentist. He may not have enough room in his mouth for his wisdom teeth and should have them extracted. There's nothing worse than an impacted wisdom tooth, which could be his problem too. Best to get him professional help fast.
