Will My Period Ever Come Back?

I have a 14 month old who was exclusively breast fed for the first 6 months at which point I started introducing solids. Now we're finally down to one feeding a day (just before bed). I still haven't gotten my period yet. Is this normal?

What can I do next?

I didn't get my period back for 8 months after I stopped breastfeeding #1 and started my period at 5 months while I was still breastfeeding #2, so it can vary greatly.

Its late, but certainly in the normal range. It took me forever as well (i had four kids, breastfed them all). Once I found out that there was nothing wrong, I enjoyed the absence of that irritating period:)

It also took me WAAAAAY too long to stop lactating after I stopped feeding!

That is normal for me. If I even nurse for one feeding, I typically don't get my period. With my last one, I did get it again at 14 months, but that was unusual for me.

I would have to say maybe....when I quit nursing my 1st (not cut down), it came back in 2 months (wasn't regular but came back); with my second that I nursed 12 mos pumping even while I was at work 3 times a day, it still took 2 months once I finally QUIT. For me, as long as I was still nursing (even pumping only one time a day) it stayed away. You might be like that and it might not come back until you are completely done (of course there are other women that nurse full time and already have their periods back -- everyone is different!). Have you taken a pregnancy test? Otherwise, I would have your doc check hormone levels if it doesn't come back within a few months of no feedings. Good luck!

I didn't get my period back until my daughter was 16 months. She is now 3.5 and my period has been very light ever since it came back.

Have you taken a pregnancy test? I know it happens differently for everyone, but I would think that you should have it by now.

I take back what I said. Apparently, I have no idea what I am talking about. I had no idea that it could take that long! I wish! I got mine back at 8 months postpartum.

My period didn't start again until 2 months after I completely weaned my daughter (which was when she was 7 months old), so to me it doesn't sound abnormal that you haven't started yet.
