B.K.
We got one when they first came out, it was fun for a few months but it has been sitting here collecting DUST for over a year, none of the kids use it anymore and hubby and myself stopped too, I'd say SKIP it!
Does this work? Is it a good thing to have around the house? The commercial shows kids using it for sports and dancing...just triyng to figure out if it is a good buy.
So if we have the WII already, do we just need an add on or do we need the bundle WII Fit thing that is like $100??

I LOVE it! It helped me get back in shape after having my twins.
my in-laws have it and we LOVE playing with it when we visit!!! My SIL acutally used some of the programs to help her bounce back after having her son.
We got ours on craigslist you can purchase other games besides the wii fit that use the board. I think if you are going to use it as a workout its not the best thing but I do enjoy playing it.
You'll need the balance board package. It's fun--we all like trying out the different games.
I even lost a few lbs. with the step aerobics -- when I did it regularly :-( LOL
My husband and I have a lot of fun using it and we are at very different fitness levels. I think the exercises are pretty good, too. Haven't tried it on the kids yet, though!
My 6 year old likes a few of the games on it. He also likes to run with me on it since you can do that two person. The wii fit plus has some other really fun games. And you do need the balance board if you don't already have one.
I bought myself one for Christmas last year. I love it, but every time I try to use it one or both of our 2yr olds want to join me on the board. This messes up the readings to the system and you either lose or get incorect readings and therefore the workout isnt benificial. By the end of the day when they are asleep I don't have enough energy to work out/play.
The gome we play the most is bowling though, because each of us holds a toddler while we play. The girls think they are involved and we get to play with more of a workout than we wanted/expected! Not only did my hips and butt feel it my arms and back did too! =)
Yes, you need the balance board with it.
They often come bundled together... the balance board with the Wii Fit Plus. It is great! Out of all the games we have, it is really the only one i play with the kids... I even get MY parents (67 yrs old) to do some of the WiiFit Plus games... they don't "do" Mario or Lego Indiana Jones or any of those others...
VERY worth it.
