I am 1,000 more times afraid to drive on the highways everyday. This isn't even a blip on my safety concern screen.
When I was pregnant I asked hubby to turn the wifi off and go old fashioned "wired" for our internet service. I feel it is just safer...I don't trust the government and industry saying it's safe, especially for infants and children whose skulls are thinner thus their brains absorb more radiation.
I am just wondering what others think?
I am feeling really tempted to turn it back on...it would make my life a lot easier. I doubt I will but I wanted to get some opinions.
Thanks.

That's probably the craziest thing i've ever heard.. it's not radiation it's a wireless signal.. your parents didn't shut off the tv when you were in your moms stomach because of the antenna (same principal) regardless of you turning yours off i'd be willing to bet you can't go 10 feet without stepping into someone elses network.. did you hear this from somewhere or just thought it up?
We have WiFi in our house and have ever since I can remember. There's nothing wrong with any of our kids.
I'm curious. Are your cell phones turned off? Do you still use the microwave? Do you still use the TV? Do you use a remote to turn on the TV? Do you listen to the radio?
What about eating? One in every 8550 potassium atoms are radioactive. A lot of foods have potassium. Does this mean you're going to stop eating bananas because it may contain a few radioactive atoms?
What I'm trying to get is everything gives of some form of radiation. Even you are giving off radiation. The WiFi isn't going to hurt the children. They'll be fine.
Turn on the WiFi!!!!! There are things to worry about, and then there's WiFi...
If you check for other networks in your home, street, everywhere, I guarantee there are several you could pick up right now, even if they are password protected you can still detect that they are there with a wireless device. We are exposed to wireless everywhere we are, all the time. If it is not safe (which I think it probably is safe, but if not) there is nothing we can do about it short of moving out into the middle of now where.
I never once thought it was an issue or dangerous. In fact from what I have read microwaves are more dangerous to our health........so, if you use a microwave and are safe with that - likely WiFi is ok too.
really in this day and age do you really think that wi fi is going to fry your kids brains? wi fi is not "radiation" if you are really concerned, turn off all cell phones, do not operate your microwave, if you have "wireless" phones you should get rid of them too.
It's a wireless signal, like cell phones, etc. Whether it is on or off it will still have the signal in the air, they are radiowaves that are already distributed in the air that the wifi box (router) catches. Just like cell phones. Just because you don't have a verizon phone doesn't mean there aren't verizon radio/soundwaves all around you.
They have guidelines about things for a reason. Microwaves, for example, can be hazardous in the radiation department but only if the door seal is broken. Do you have an old water heater? That's what you have to check, if they leak it's carbon monoxide.
I'm thinking the only way to avoid WiFi is to move off the grid!
I'm sure all of this technology is going to catch up to us, but we can't live without a lot of the technology. I concentrate on giving my family the tools it needs to fight anything in their bodies. Good organic nutrition. Every person grows at least one cancer cell a day. The question is, can your immune system stop it or let it multiply?
I think its safe to use wifi around kids
i think wireless is safer then wired because kids cant trip or get caught in the wire so turn the wireless back on

Please don't take some of these people too seriously. I couldn't believe how harsh some of them are in their responses. I didn't get wifi either - we already know that the American Academy of Pediatricians are saying that children should minimize cell phone use because they don't know how safe they are for young children. This is a major reversal from 5 years ago. But then, I realized that in my house, I can pick up at least 8 wifi signals from our neighborhood. So, I added my signal to it. I do actually turn it off when I am not using it (that means I unplug my router so that it has no electricity and stops emiting a signal).
Hang in there - you are doing your best to protect your children. That is what every good Mama Bear should do. C.
I agree with you, it probably isn't safe for us. I think the government just wants the money it can bring them. But unfortunately WIFI is everywhere, not only in your home, but just about every doctor's office, library, coffee shop, hotel, etc. My son has an IPOD touch and is always looking for wireless to connect to. He always has one showing on his screen (locked or unlocked). It is everywhere, so you might as well turn it on.
