Hubby and I went Christmas shopping for his kids who will be here for Christmas. I think we did well and didn't go overboard. I have just a couple more ideas of things I want to get them and then we're done. The kids are a boy age 6 and a girl age 4. We bought them individual toys (the boy a remote control car, the girl a tea set, dress a bear, etc.) and we also got toys they can share. Such as a bowling set, a t-ball set that has three different levels and will pitch and an I SPY puzzle game. They always end of sharing toys anyways but my question is: How do we figure out who opens the joint gifts? Should I just put to both of them? But who gets to open? Or should I leave them unwrapped? I've never done this before so I'm just asking for suggestions. I want everyone treated fairly. Thanks!
I think telling them they are gifts for both of them, after all the others have been opened, and letting them each open one at a time switching off.
Since they already share well, keep encouraging it by having them open the gifts together. Or you could alternate which name is first on the tag, and the kids whose name is first sort of leads the unwrapping while the other helps or looks on.
Or make them from Santa, as others have suggested.
Have them open the gifts with their own names on them first, and then the open the gifts that say both of their names together, after everything else has been opened...or if there's an equal number, they can sit together and each take turns opening one.
If there are equal amounts of share toys...divide them up and let them take turns opening them. Or both unwrap at the same time....you could set up the bowling pins and T-ball like it came straight from Santa!
I would have them be from Santa and have them unwrapped and put together by the tree on Christmas morning or whenever they get there.
We got our boys a Bey Blade set and a new package of Bey Blades. We'll wrap them seperately, and when they get to them, just have each of them open one. Then they share.
If you have an even amount, let them pile those up and then open the same amount.
I would label the present to the both of them from Santa.
Since it sounds like there are 3 toys for the both of them...let them each open one individually and the 3rd present they can open together. Or, they can just open all of them together. I don't think you can go wrong this way.
it would be fun to lead them on a scavenger hunt to find the TOY for both of them. Each child has their own adventure of finding it and getting to open it from you guys. The 3rd one can be from Santa or they can open it together if that is possible.
