I have while tile and grout in my kitchen that cannot keep clean! With two almost two toddlers, a dog, and a husband, I have to mop it every day and it's still not all the way clean. Does anyone know of a cleaning product (I've used Mean Green and it helps) that will get my floors really clean and my grout white again? I have nightmares about my dirty floors!

What can I do next?

Home Depot's have small "classes" on how to lay tile, the man seemed very knowledgeable and would answer any type of questions.
I remember someone asking a question about how to fix a broken tile. He also talked about sealing it. I don't remember him saying that it had to be sealed more than once. The stores usually post when they are having one of those talks, they are informal groupings around a display and people come and go as they please. You can probably go during one of these and ask your question and go. I hope this helps.

There is a product called Sol-u-mel. If you use it straight it will clean your grout. And it's non-caustic, so unlike Mean Green, it won't leave harsh chemicals on your floor for your children and dog to play on and get on their hands/paws and in their mouths. It's only available from an international wellness on-line store. If you would like more information about Sol-u-mel and other non-caustic, environmentally safe products, please let me know! I would love to get you all the details so your home can be safer and healthier for you and your family.

I have used the Clorox Bleach Pen Gel with great success on nasty grout in the shower. You do have to let it sit for awhile before rinsing (or in your case, mopping) away, so it might be hard with that many people running around your house, but it's worth a shot!

Hi J., I know i am late at responding but I have white tile and grout in 2 of my guest bathrooms, when my oldest step-daughter moved in with us with her 2 todlers after a divorce....and she lived with us for over 5 years....well needless to say when she moved out last year I thought I was going to have to replace the tile, her cleaning skills lacked considerably but I ended up hiring Steamatic, they clean carpet and tile. I had them clean all of the bathrooms in my house as they are all ceramic tile and I was shocked!! My white bathrooms looked brand new!!! I would definatly try them and make sure to go to Lowes or Home depot and get a grout sealer, they will need to be re-sealed and this will help keep the grout white and stains from getting in. Good luck to you!!

I don't know of any cleaning products but I would recommend having it re-grouted and then sealed. Most people don't know that you are supposed to apply a new sealing coat every 6 months to a year to keep the grout in good shape. If you can find something that will clean it good, I would still say that it probably needs to have a sealer applied again. This will help keep it clean.

Soft Scrub can do wonders on the grout, but it is tedious.

I have to agree with having it regrouted and sealed.

This is what I do for my kitchen till I can afford to redo my floors.

It's a little time consuming but works.
Get a grout brush, bucket of warm water the liquid comet or even soft scrub.
Working in small sections apply the cleaner to the grout and let it set for a few minutes. Take the brush and scrub away, rinsing the brush every so often.
Then move to the next section till the whole floor is done.

Then rinse with plain water and a mop.

When doing this wear some old sweats, since the comet will bleach.

J.,

I would not recommend using Bleach on your floors with toddlers, especially if you have to leave it on for a while. Grout is usually made of pourous substances. So the bleach will remain in the grout no matter how much you rinse it.

I recommend using a safer cleaner which I buy from an international wellness company for your floors. I have off-white tile and grout in my bathroom and this product cleans it right up. I use an old toothbrush for the tough stains in the grout. My mom uses it on her laminate floors too.

You can contact me directly through a private message and I will be happy to share more details.

I periodicallly use DOW Scrubbing Bubbles (or the WalM generic) on my grout lines. I just spray on the seams, & sometimes have to use a grout brush. It's a pain, & resealing doesn't seem to last very long because this is a high traffic area....our entry floor. Attractive, but impractical.
