Hi D.--

Do you mean thrush? which is a fungus. The white bumps could be budding teeth, some kids get them early or a fungus or just normal coloring on the gums.

Run your finger over the bumps and see if they hurt or are raised. If you see the bumps on his cheeks/lips, it's a fungus & call the doc.

Isn't that just the thrush? I thought that it showed up in the form of white bumps inside the mouth. I don't know much about it, thankfully mine have never had it, but is he on medication? I would think that if you treat him the way the doctor said, they will go away. Hang in there.

If I remember correctly, I think thrush looks more like canker sores?? I'm not 100% sure about that, but double check with his pediatrician. Was he already diagnosed with thrush?? The white bumps on his gums could very likely be new teeth budding up. Is he drooling a ton and a little cranky or feverish and knawing on EVERYTHING (including his hands)?? I also remember hearing that babies usually get their first teeth in the spots you described. I'm really thinking its teething, but double check to be on the safe side.

I am guessing you mean he has thrush, not thrash, and bumps, not pumps. If I am right about this, (because I've never heard of thrash or pumps on the gums) it is a yeast infection in the mouth. He needs Nystatin to get rid of it. It will get better. If you are nursing him, you will need to apply the medication to your nipples. Good luck.

If you mean white bumps, it could be part of the thrush. Feel them. If they're firm and nothing sloughs off they're probably teeth pushing to the surface.
