We have Verizon (FIOS) right now.
My friend is going to move into her first apartment soon and she doesn't know which company to go with.
Any advice ???

I think it depends on the area and what you want......tell her to go look at reviews and see what other people think about the ones that she is considering and make her choice from that...

I am not familiar with Verizon so I can't answer that.
We've had Time Warner Cable for years. The only time we had trouble was in the very beginning when we built our house in 2000. The issues were making sure our signal was good due to the location of our house.
We have a package 1 digital landline, HDTV, DVR, 1 extra box, internet. We spend about $185 a month BUT we do record a lot of programs, we order a lot of movies. I think the base cost for our set up is $124./month. We have a lot of extras.
If she has an alarm system, ATT Uverse might not be the best choice for phone, no problem for cabel or internet. However, Uverse does an update about 2:00, every morning, and your alarm goes off because they disconect your phone line in the meantime. Something they don't normally tell you, but it's a pain to deal with. We cancelled the service after a couple of days with the same issue and Uverse not been able/not wanted to deal with it. Just something to consider.
