I had not heard of gifted so I watched the trailer and I would pick that one. I have not seen the Shack but I read the book and I would not consider it a chick flick, it is very much a religious novel.
Have any of you seen The Shack and/or Gifted? If so which one was the best and how good are they? I am looking for a chick flick this weekend and it is between these two.

Neither of those movies are chick flicks so I'm not sure either one will give you what you're looking for this weekend. If those are your only two options, I'd pick Gifted.
Critically speaking, The Shack received about 20% positive critical reviews while 84% of the audience seemed to enjoy it; Gifted, 64% positive critical reviews and 87% of the audience enjoyed it. You can thank Rotten Tomatoes for this information.
Personally, no interest in seeing The Shack. I had family members to on and on about the book-- something so deeply spiritual may be hard to translate to the silver screen without feeling preachy/heavy-handed or taking something away from the original story.
(No, I haven't seen either one. But if I were choosing, Gifted does seem lighter and more 'chick flick'-y.)
Sorry - neither are my genre.
I mentioned Arsenic and Old Lace at work last week and was surprised some had never heard of it.
We just watched it again and even with being in black and white - it's such a good movie!
It's classic! and Cary Grant is great!
Gifted is a phychologiczl thriller. The Shack is about a man whose daughter was abducted and murdered. Struggling to overcome his grief, he is led to a shack (where his daughter was probably murdered) where he has a life changing encounter with God.
I don't know if either one is what you're hoping for.
Haven't seen the movie but read The Shack. It is kind-of a niche story, IMO. It's very spiritual and might not appeal to some for that reason. Also, for me, the details of the abduction of the daughter were very dark and chilling - I wouldn't want to see them acted out (it's possible they edited this out of the movie, but it's central to the plot so I doubt it (and I'm not spoiling anything here because the abduction is in the movie trailer)). I really wouldn't consider The Shack a chick flick at all, actually.
Based on the plots, I think Gifted would be more of a chick flick.
Neither one sounds like a chick flick to me. I will second another responder's suggestion and say try a different movie. My friend and I went to see Lion and we both LOVED it! I think it is a chick flick and the story was so uplifting! A perfect movie to see with a gal pal!

Both look intense and Gifted looks frightening as well. I think instead you should see if Lion is playing by you. It's really good. It's about a man who was adopted from India as a very young child and he eventually wants to find his family. It's a true story and is amazing.
Neither to me screams " chick flick" , but that's just me. Personally I'd go with Beauty and the Beast. Lol. Which definitely could be a chick flick..
If I had to pick between just these two, I guess I'd go with The Shack. Mainly because Octavia Spencer is in it. I'd see anything she is in. I love her.
