I too am trying to decide - my Doctor told me the new maternity ward is complete at SL Methodist but there is a brand new facility on 99 as well. I decided on Methodist because they have all the new amenities.
I am trying to decide between Sugar Land Mehodist or Memorial Hermann Sugar Land for my delivery. Can anyone provide references for either of these?
Thank you for your responses. After visiting both hospitals decided to register at both. My first choice is to deliver at Methodist. If they are over-booked, I will go to Memorial Hermann.

I just had my son at Sugar Land Methodist 7 weeks ago today and I had a great experience there. The food was really good (for hospital food) and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I had a really good delivery nurse who was so sweet and really knew what she was doing. I didn't have any complications and I was released in 24 hours post partum, so my stay was short, but I would recommend it. The only issue I ran into was a lack of rooms available. I was induced and I had to stay in triage a lot longer than I had anticipated because there just weren't any open rooms to put me in. I was starting to get nervous that I would have to deliver in there! I don't know anything about Memorial Hermann, so I can't compare the two, but I would certainly recommend Methodist. Oh, one other thing. Be sure you valet park the car! It's free and it is a ton easier than trying to find a parking spot there (it's usually next to impossible!).
Sorry...I had to edit my response based on a previous post. She said that at Methodist, they won't take the baby to the nursery unless they're sick. This wasn't the case for me. They took my son to the nursery and just brought him in to nurse at night, so I would just make sure you ask them to do that for you if that is what you want.
Good luck with your delivery whichever you choose!
I know you want to be close but I am a BIG fan of St. Lukes in the medical center.
I used to be in pharmaceutical sales and called on hospitals. Not that I am an expert and there are excellent doctors in community hospitals but I think the "best of the best" are in the med center.
Plus, GOD FORBID, any complications occur, Texas Children's is literally a hallway away.
Maybe your doctor doesn't have privledges there or maybe you are set on staying in Sugar Land. If that's the case, ask YOUR doctor which hospital has the best nursing staff and anesthesiologists between your two choices. That is critical and your doctor will (or should) know the answer.
The nursing staff is HUGE to me b/c your doctor is there right before you deliver and they leave right after, its the nurses who take care of you and baby 99% of the time, right?
Hope that helps.
I had my second son at Sugar Land Methodist and they do not take the baby out of your room unless he is sick. My first son was born at Woman's Hospital and they took him out of the room over night so I could get some rest and would bring him in every 3 hours to nurse. Some moms don't like to send the baby to the nursery so they can rest...I had a difficult labor so I kind of would have liked it. But the facility was good, the nurses were nice and no complaints overall (that was 7 years ago). I would not mind going to Memorial Sugar Land, only cause it's new! Good luck!
