My 7 month old son gets "A/B otic" drops prescribed. They work wonders. Contrary to the name, they are strictly for pain, not an antibiotic.

My children were always given Floxin Otic 10Ml it works well but is prescribed and check on the age. But I think mine took it quite young and we still use when ear problems arise because all 3 of mine have a long history (tubes in ears)several times. It usually stopped the pain right away too. Hope that helps.

Similasan drops are available OTC. They work for little ears and big ones too! ;)

I second (third) the Similsam. They are very soothing and last quite a while. When my son who is almost 13 would get ear aches that doctor said to try tylenol and these before bringing him in as minor ear pain can often be treated over the counter unless pain persists for 3+ days.

We use the A/B Otic drops and I swear by them! I tell everyone that I think that they should give them to you in the hospital when you give birth...you don't know you need them until you are kneedeep in uncontrollable screaming baby at 2am! We tried the OTC similisan drops and they just weren't as effective. I keep a bottle of the A/B Otic drops in my nightstand at all times! Good luck!

My daughter's pediatrician prescribed Auralgan. It's nice because it can also be rubbed on the gums for teething pain. I've used it for both teeth and ears and it has helped. Target pharmacy can fill the prescription. I think they gave me a generic brand that is cheaper. I personally would not rely on over the counter medicine for ear pain without consulting a doctor first, in a child that young. But that's me. Good luck.

Get a Rx from your pediatrician. I swear by them.

We got some via prescription that actually numbed the inside of the ear. Can't tell the name of it, I forget.

Have you taken your child to the doctor yet? Ear pain could be any number of things and your child may need medication for an infection, etc.
