D.K.
Playmobil's website is not bad either. There are often rather good deals in their sale section.
Any savvy shoppers out there who can help me? I'm thinking that my son will be moving up to Playmobil toys this Christmas, and I noticed that Toys R Us has them on sale 20% off right now. Is this a good deal, or will they have better sales closer to Christmas? I like to get finished shopping early so I can enjoy the holidays, but I also like to save money! Unfortunately, I'm not seeing much on Craigslist either :(

Last year Barnes and Noble had a great online toy sale before Christmas that included Playmobil, but I don't recall the percentage.
20% is pretty good for Playmobil. You tend to rarely see discounts on these. There is a small boutique toy store near me that runs a 20% off everything sale on Black Friday morning and that's the only time I've gotten Playmobil on sale, so I would take the 20% off deal and not worry about trying to maybe save an extra 5% later. These and Lego are never in the "buy one, get one free" deals or anything deeply discounted.
Amazon is great for pre-holiday sales in October so keep your eye out there too.
I did this last year and 20% is pretty good for Toys R Us. There are also places online that will have sales close to the holidays and have more selections and sometimes you can find discontinued sets are discounted. Even on ebay it is not easy to find really great deals. Some toys are just like that (Lego, Thomas trains) are hard to get really good on.
I know I've seen some Playmobil toys at Target before. I'm not sure if they still have them or not and I'm not sure about their prices. Target usually comes out with a toy coupon book when it gets closer to Christmas.
Yes I agree that 20% is good. I don't know if you have US Toy/ Constructive Playthings near you, but CP does have a website. The store here put a sale only on Thomas and Playmobil every Monday in Nov/Dec last year. I can't remember which month but I think it was Nov, but I'd check out their website. I know Target has some Playmobil sets too but I'm not sure their prices would be better than Toys R Us with that sale.
