I heard the malls hand out candy and have tons of kiddos... Call them first.. I know Clackamas town center is doing it!
Hi!
I live right near Markham Elementary (Off Capitol Hwy) in SW Portland. We went trick or treating in our neighborhood last year and it was a ghost town! We literally did not see one other kid on the street and only had 1 in 5 houses answer the door. NO trick-or-treaters came to our house :(
Where do you go to trick-or-treat? I don't want to have a repeat of last year. I'm thinking maybe I waited until it was too late? What time is the "right" time to go?

We live in Cedar Hills, and it's a great place to trick or treat. Lots of houses, not too hilly, well-lit. All our friends are coming to our place for an early potluck then we're taking the kiddos out!
We live in Portland. Check out the mall stores near you. It used to be that specific malls did the "trick or treat" things / goodies....when our children were little, we limited the event to people we knew, even if it meant driving a short distance...Our very little ones used to stay home (in costume) and hand the goodies out. You might also check with your neighbors and see if you can arrange something with them for the neighborhood. Except for the darling children, I really have never liked Halloween...but the kids sure do...so I just "go along" with it.....good luck
Two years ago, Wash. Sq. Mall had a few stores that participated, but only a few. I don't think they did it last year. I'd call or stop at the info. desk if you happen to be there. You might also inquire at a few stores if you happen to be shopping. They might be doing it if the mall isn't sanctioning it, which is what happened two years ago.
Some of the strip malls nearby might also hand out candy/treats. Just ask when you are out and about. You might want to repost if you find out something. I would like to find a place to take my kids too. It is pretty quiet in our neighborhood, as well. We aren't very far from you.
Hi, Yes - Clackamas Town Center is hosting a free family fall festival on Saturday, October 30, from 1-6pm. Trick-or-treating the mall will happen from 4-6pm that day (Sat., not on Halloween). They plan to have free craft activity zone and fun stuff for the kiddos!
