Where to Get the Wedding License?

Hey guys,

I was just curious if anyone would know the answer to this. I'm getting married next month so I need to get a wedding license. I was wondering, do I get the license in the county I am getting married in (Flower Mound- is that Dallas county?) or in the county of my residence (Tarrant)?

And would anyone know where I would go in either of those places to get the license? I'm assuming a courthouse but I really don't know.

Any information would be helpful!

Thanks

R.

R.,

I just got married in October in Cornith. My husband and I went the tuesday before our Saturday wedding and got our License. There is a Justice of the Peace in Lewisville right off of Valley Parkway. They only take cash, I hope this helps.

I just got married in June...

You can get a marriage license anywhere in Texas if you are getting married in Texas. The county does not matter.

Find an office close to you:

I actually went to Collin County because it was in a less crowded area and was easy to get in and out of.

My husband is a non-denominational pastor, so I know how it works. ha ha You should get your marriage license in the county where you reside. There is a Tarrant County sub courthouse on HWY 26(Grapevine Hwy) and you can get it there. Whom ever marries you will sign it and mail it in for you. Best Wishes! L.

It doesn't matter WHERE you get your license. I just checked into that last week for another reason. But you do need to get it in the STATE you are getting married in.

Flower Mound is Denton County and the offices are in Denton at the courthouse. You can also get one in Tarrant or in Dallas.

Have a wonderful wedding!

When I got married I lived in Tarrant County, got married in Dallas county, but my license came from Collin county. Unless anything has changed, it didn't make a difference in 1993.
