Where to Find Pants?

My 3 1/2 year old as always been big for her age and unfortunately, is not proportioned very well. She is currently wearing the size size shirts as her 6 year old cousins but we can not find pants that fit her. I actually even broke down and made her some pants just so I would have something to put her in but I would really like to find pants that fit and actually have some style to them. We bought her some size 5 pants that are already starting to get too tight around the belly but they are a good 5 inches too long. Size 4 is closer to the right length in the legs but they do not fit around the belly and the crotch is too short. She has a very long back and is long waisted as well. She is not a fat kid by any means, she is just very muscular. Anyone have any suggestions?

What can I do next?

My 2 year old is hard to fit, too. We go to Old Navy, where they have adjustable pants. They have elastic in the waist that you can pull tighter or make looser, depending on the kid. Good luck!!!

I had the same problem with my daughter when she was younger. I had to buy online from Childrens Place and Oldnavy and buy the "husky" sizes. I believe Target also carries them in some of their stores. Right before she gets ready to grow, she chunks up around her midsection and then shoots up about 5 inches in 1 season. Now she is all legs and no butt so I have to buy the kind with the adjustable waist to keep them from falling down. Good luck in your search! E.

We have difficulty fitting out girls, too. One daughter is very narrow, no hips and tall and skinny. And my youngest is a chunker and both have long torsos. Oddly, we have no problem with my son. I have found that the jeans with the adjustable waists have a larger waist and many times more room through out the hips and legs. I have found that my skinny daughter can not wear Children's Place jeans at all, regardless of how much we pull out the adjustable elastic. They are just to wide (she's handicapped and belts are not practical for her). This would be good for your daughter. They have an outlet at the Great Mall where you can get good prices. Target also sells yoga type pants that are comportable for my youngest and we can get those a size too long and roll the top and they stay. One more suggestion would be to add elastic to the waists. I know it wouldn't be very hard but I personally would consult my grandma, a seamstress, before but if you made a pair of pants then maybe you can. You could also get them altered for a decent price if you took in a few pairs at once.

I have the same problem with my daughter. My daughter is 8 and has been wearing 10s, but when they became snug I was at a loss. I put her in a 12 and they were too big of course and waaaay too long. I found that Old Navy has 1/2 sizes, so now she's wearing an 8 1/2 from Old Navy. Gap has 1/2 sizes too, but their 8 1/2s are too roomy. Gymboree and Children's Place have 1/2 sizes too, but only online. I don't know about for smaller sizes but I bet if you look online surely someone has them. Good luck. I think it stinks that we have just as much trouble fitting our little girls in jeans as we have fitting ourselves (at least as much trouble as I have :)
