Where to Donate Stuff??

I am finally cleaning out our garage after living here for 2 years. I have figured out for the most part what I want to keep and what I do not want to keep. I still have a ton of stuff!! I now figure I will go through it once more and only keep what I really want to keep and use.

Here is the question: does anyone know where I can donate this 'stuff' to? It is everything from a couple pairs of shoes, to little trinkets, tote bags, etc. I would put everything up individually on freecyle, but, I have about 10 large totes of stuff. I do not want to take the time to list everything. I still have a tote of my original cabbage patch kids. My daughter never played with dolls, I am even thinking about parting with them.

Also, I am thinking about donating my old beat up pick up truck. It will run if I put a new battery in and make a couple of adjustments. (it needs a ton of work though!) Does anyone have a preferred place to call and donate it to? ie - kids or vets orginization.

I would appreciate any suggestions.

I give everything to Goodwill. They unload it too! LOL Only thing they don't take that I know of are like baby swings and exersaucers and stuff like that. Insurance policy thing. God bless ya for doing that with such a wee one!! LOL!

I am not sure where you live, but Good Will survives off people cleaning out their homes. Also, resale shops are everywhere, they could use things as well. Churches, shelters, etc... Basically pick a cause that means something to you, look it up on the internet and stuff gone.

I usually donate to Sparrow's Nest Thrift shops. The proceeds benefit a homeless women's & children's shelter. And they get certificates to use in the store which really helps at the holidays and to get them started in their own homes. I know they will often pick up items if you call to schedule and have a lot...

I use Vietnam Veterans of America. They'll come to your house. I don't have the phone number available, you can look it up online. I think it's a 708 area code...they have been really good about coming when I call. Not sure about the car though, just ask them.

Don't forget to list everything you have donated, and get a tax receipt from the organization you donate to. You can deduct it on your taxes.
