Where to Donate Shoes?

I have bundles of shoes to donate and would like them to go to someplace/people that truly need shoes. Not to goodwill where the "cool/alternative" kids buy clothes. The women shelter here actually does not take dontation (weird). I really do not want to pay to ship them somewhere for donation. Does anyone have any suggestions? Some of these kids shoes are like brand new - just out grown. I have one pair that's never been worn.

What can I do next?

I would find out if your church is supporting a shelter or something like that and donate them to your church...

Call your Community Center and see what they have as well..

Sorry to hear your W.'s shelter doesn't take donations!! That's freaky (weird).

Salvation Army....

What's wrong with the Goodwill? Are you saying kids with wealth shop there? So what? The MONEY they spend it going to help people....

I would think a homeless shelter or maybe check around for any clothing banks (they hand out clothes to needy kids).

Our area has a community outreach program and goods are sold at the ACO store. We also have a homeless shelter and a women's shelter.

I take most everything to the women's shelter because I know it will go to good use and be appreciated.

Yes, It is odd that your women's shelter does not take them.

If they are children's shoes, certainly hipster alternative teens won't be buying them? But Cheryl O is right--the profits of Goodwill stores fund their other services.

I've also given things to a local church.

We have big bins all over the place for clothing and shoe donations. You could also look into having the shoes donated to an organization that will provide them to children in foreign countries (like in Africa or Asia) that truly need them, if they will take care of them shipping.
