Hi Ladies,
My husband and I moved to the Las Colinas area from Boston last fall and just had our first baby boy in January. We are not too familiar with the area and are just in the beginning stages of researching neighborhoods to buy our first home. We want amazing schools obviously but also want a great location to raise a happy child. We are interested in a little more suburban that has great programs for kids, parks, classes, etc. Anyone have any great ideas or areas to stay away from? Any advice is appreciated!

What can I do next?

I agree with the Flower Mound, Highland Village area. Our schools are great and it's a great family atmosphere. Different neighborhoods are available for different budgets.

Check out www.familyegiude.com. We specialize in family activities in this area, so you can get an idea of what's "happening" around town. Be sure to download one of our recent newsletters - that's where you'll find each week's activities.

Good luck!

I have to send in a plug for Richardson, specifically Canyon Creek. Gorgeous parks, tons of families, and the city just built a brand-new rec center/tennis compound/baseball fields for the community. I love it. We also enjoy the diversity, and you can't beat the location. You can be downtown or at the Shops at Legacy in 20 minutes. My husband also works in Las Colinas - the commute is 30 minutes if you take George Bush.

If your husband is going to be working in Las Colinas, I would suggest Flower Mound and Highland Village. Both great towns, great schools and very commutable distances to Las Colinas.
