My 3 and 5 year old are asking for ice skates this Christmas. They are both beginners - where can I find good affordable ice skates?

What can I do next?

Dave's Sporting Goods in Fridley has a great selection of new and used skates. They have a Maple Grove store too, but I don't recall seeing the used skates there (?). There are also places that rent skates - we did this when our boys were first starting hockey since their feet grew so fast. You could turn them in for bigger sizes within the rental year. And they may have applied the cost to a new pair if you bought later...can't remember, it's been awhile. The place we did that is no longer there, but may be in Rogers now - Sporting Goods, Inc. I agree with others, Play It Again is a good option.

I got my daughter second hand skates and we tried skating two winter's in a row. She hates ice skating and we will probaly never do it agian. I am really glad I bought her's second hand and didn't waste money. It gave her a chance to try it and it wasn't a big deal that she disliked it.

Try Play it Again Sports. They have both new and used. It is nice to get used ones at first because you don't know how often they will go skating and they grow out of them so quickly. Have fun.
