Bowling alley. Adults can have just as much fun bowling as a three year old can. I like bowling with the kids better because I like having the bumpers up!
My son turns 3 in a few weeks and we have a new baby at home so I really don't want to have a home party again. I would just like to go somewhere fun for lunch. Guests would maiinly be adults, husband's family, and a few of his friends. I'm not ready to do a big party and inivite all of daycare and every acquaintance. I was considering a Chuckie Cheese type place, but not my first pick. Anything similar that you can recommend that may have some fun games or things to do for the kids, yet decent food for adults and space to sit at a table.

Park! Easy, fun and free! :) Bring cake or cupcakes and a platter of fruit and veggies and you will be fine~ Do after 1pm like 2-4. You can do pin the tail on the donkey, races etc. The way we have done it is:
Play
Do a craft to bring home
Eat cake/cupcake
Play game
Open presents or eat snacks then go home!
Do you have Red Robins or Rainforest Cafes near you? Fun for your son, good food for adults.
Why don't you do two parties, a lunch at egg harbor for family and adults, and then take the kids to monkey joes or another indoor play place. Don't do the party room, instead, just pay for a few of his friends to get in and then buy everyone lunch.
I'd even ask hubby's family to host a family dinner....or do a dinner but have it catered.
My husbands step sister rented out the play place of the burger king for her daughter's party. All of the kids had a great time and the adults just sat around and gabbed. If your family doesn't mind fast food, it was a pretty good time.
If you are taking new baby I would stay away from kid places. They are giant Petri dishes and a new baby just does not need to be exposed to it.
I had my daughter's party at a park until she was like 8. But it might be cold right now in Ill. I remember going to a party at a mommy and me place with a bunch of 3 year olds. The parents brought a platter of wings and veggies from the food market for the adults and fruit and cheese with some cupcakes for the kids.

Enchanted Castle has Pizza and Games. Fun for all ages.
I would say the Zoo, but that is very pricey to eat there.
Ledos-Pizza on Lagrange Road in Lagrange (north of 55th street). Good Pizza.
