I know its early for a this. Just wanted to know when you buy "christmas gifts" for your kids or whoever, where do you usually put/hide them at, that nobody will find them?? Do you store them at someone else house,lay-away,etc?

*We already started doing "our" christmas shopping for our kids and I have stuff store at my brother's house(since he's single) and we have small gifts store in a black trash bag in top of our closet. (Lucky I have 3 small children who can't get up there and haven't asked yet, "whats that") :)

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I forgot we do store some thing in the attic also. :)

But I have to remember what and where stuff is store or I'll forget.(Or at least I have to write what I brought down so I don't forget)

Never thought of suitcases. :) I can see why. :) Thanks for the info and feedback. :)

In my closet behind my clothes there's a shelf i stack them on.....i also stash the "santa wrapping paper" there also.

The kids know that my closet is off limits throughout the year. There are other things i have in there i dont feel like explaining., lol we all have those "things"

I keep some things at my moms sometimes.
Also I have a huge walk in closet that has high shelving, you need a chair to get to it...and I do NOT keep a chair in my room so it would be kind of obvious if kids were dragging a chair into my room. My kids are pretty good, have not really had an issue with snooping, so I guess we are lucky.

Most of the time if it's small it gets hidden in the top of my closet for short term. We have a room in our basement that was originally built to store coal, so we put a lock on it and keep the gifts in there.

I've stored a few gifts for friends over the years.

The best was trying to hide 2 kayaks for over a month! We burried them behind some stuff in the garage.

I'm lucky to have a closet in the hallway of our apartment that requires a key. That's where I have all the xmas fun stashed. I too have already began to buy some things and sort of spread out the spending! :-)

Added: my parents sucked at hiding the gifts... they put them under their bed. Duh! haha!

We put them in our back room, that no one goes in because it makes us look like hoarders. If it's really big, it stays at Uncle Mike's.

When I was younger, I would stash my parents' bigger gifts (chairs, shelves etc) at nearby relatives homes.

For our kids, I hid them in the closet in the extra room when they were little.
Now that they are older, we hide them in the trailer in the back of or property.

How about hiding yours in the garage?
Or the attic?
Or the upper garage/attic type of area?
A friend's house?
I used our next door neighbors house a couple of times.

I have lockers that I've had since the 80s down in the basement.

There's a stash started already because we're having a mini Christmas next week and he finds EVERYTHING. I'm hoping he won't be able to look in there now that we've brought things inside for the winter. My husband's bike should block him out.

Inside suitcases!

On a different note, "wrapping presents" is what my friends told the kids they were doing if they wanted to sneak off to the bedroom for a few minutes - and the kids never disturbed them!

We have a few large wardrobe size boxes in the back of the guest room closet. I stick stuff in the boxes, in that closet. NOONE would think to look there, and it's a walk in closet so if I have guests, they still have plenty of room. It looks all nice and neat, just some empty hangers for their convenience, and 3 boxes in the back. If it's too big to put in those boxes, it goes behind the boxes.

We had a camper trailer, I hid and wrapped them in there a few years.

We had neighbors that had lots of room and loved hiding them there and even let me wrap them over there. They were childless and loved being a part of the Santa secret.

And we also sometimes hid them at my husbands grandparents home.. They loved hiding them.

I always had different people sign the tags from "the North Pole".. Some of the gifts were from Santa - the actual items from her list.

Some were from Mrs. Claus - Pj's, books, dress up clothes..
Some from the elves - Silly things like skates, games, puzzles..

Our daughter was extremely observant.. so we had to be sneaky.. The paper was always "Santa Paper" I never kept it in our house. If I did not use all of it, I donated it to the "Blue Santa" group here in town.

I have a huge closet in our bedroom and I put them all in black garbage bags (one for each kid) and put them on the floor behind my long dresses. You can't even see them and the kids rarely go in our room anyway.

My cousin was a foster mom for years and when toys were on sale (she started in January when the excess Christmas toys and clothes were on clearance) she would store them in a closet that had a lock on it. She also kept her cleaning supplies in there so she had to keep it locked.

She never knew how many or what gender of kids she would have so she bought what ever was a really good buy and would put them back. This also server her well if the kids got invited to a birthday party and she didn't have cash on hand, she would pick out a couple of things and let the child going to the party pick the one they wanted to give.

When the time came she has an enormous amount of things to choose from since she had been picking things up all year. I think any place that is private or out of sight is a good place but somewhere that has a lock on it is best.

We've already started some of the christmas shopping. (: Especially since my daughter is so in love with yo gabba gabba. I want to make sure she gets at least one thing of theirs. My fiance on the other hand likes waiting until the last minute to do shopping.

Since my daughter is only 2 & 1/2 she hasn't asked or even been bothered. So I can get away with hiding the gifts in the closet. I'm sure next year though I'll have to change the hiding spots. I think I'll use the attic then.

I usually start shopping in late October-early November through the beginning of December, but since I'm pregnant and the baby will be here in November, I had already started.

it would just depend on the size of the present where I would hide it. Big presents go in the attic, and little ones are underneath my bed.

My closet and it is easy to see where they are (they are in bags). My kids, 10 & 13, are not the least interested in ruining their surprise on Christmas morning so I don't need to worry if they will raffle through my closet.
