I used the produce scales, in grocery stores, until they were heavy enough to be weighed with me. Honestly though unless you little one is not thriving I wouldn't bet too worked up about it. I always had thin babies that have all become really healthy tall kids.

Weigh yourself.
When weigh yourself while holding your baby.
The difference between the 2 measurements is the weight of your baby.

Are you wanting to weigh your baby in addition to well checks or in lieu of them? Because if you are trying to avoid the well visits altogether, I would encourage you to rethink this plan. A doctor evaluates much more than weight.

Now if you are just wanting to keep a close eye in between medical visits, I am not certain where you could get an accurate weight. Produce scales are notoriously not balanced. Cheryl's trick of holding the baby and subtracting will work for general weights, but I don't think you'll get the specifics with ounces. I know when my son was having weight issues, the office helped me track his weight with weight check appointments. I was not charged for these visits. The nurses simply weighed him and charted it for the doctor.

Yup, the other two suggestions are what moms have been doing for ages. Weigh yourself then with the baby, subtract.

Now if you have a premie they have rentals of the same scales they use in the nursery. One of my coworker's grandson was born three months premature! So she told us about the scale. He is doing great by the way!

Welcome to mamapedia!!!

Why not just purchase a scale yourself and stand on it first without her and then pick her up and see how much the two of you weigh together?????
Subtract the before from the after and you have her weight.

I'm not joking, I weighed mine in the produce section of the grocery store. I brought my own blanked covered bowl to put her in and deducted the weight of my bowel and blanket. However, i am pretty certain that you can arrange for weight ins with your drs. office and only see the nurse. I did this for free at the Kaiser milk clinic. Does your hospital offer a milk clinic? I don't recommend the grocery store for serious accuracy. You really need a hospital grade scale when you are monitoring minuscule weight gain every few days as I needed to do.

You can accurately weigh your baby at Healthy horizons in Burlingame. It's a great shop for new moms and they give lots of advice & support should you need it! Highly recommend! Also there is a breastfeeding support group held at Mills Hospital that happens weekly. Its free (donations optional) and they have a scale there for anyone to use. Last time I went, they never questioned whether or not you used their hospital, or I you even has to. It was very open. You could check the mills peninsula website for more info. Good luck!

Why don't you just go and buy a baby scale. They have them for sale online and you can get a scale up to 40lbs. It is very helpful to have your own. They don't cost very much and then you won't be driving all around to weigh your baby. Gas isn't free......My scale cost about 50 dollars and I bought it used off of craigslist.

Healthy Horizons in Burlingame (Sheila Janakos is WONDERFUL!), or you could take her to the pediatrician and ask for a weight check. You don't generally need to make an appointment or wait to see the ped.
