I want to double date with a friend and her husband. We both have kids and really not alot of money. We wanted one night we could all get really dressed up and go out and have a good time. Any ideas on where to go that would need formal attire or is not totally out of place. Any ideas would help Thanks

The Tempe Improv is fun-- you can either get dressed up or go casual either way. It's not too expensive either. There are also shows and plays at the Mesa Arts Center in downtown Mesa.

You could go to the Nutcracker @ Symphony Hall, then to dinner at the Wyndham or Hyatt downtown.

Just a thought... I've gone to Olive Garden in formals and it was fun. There was a group of us (6-8 people) so it was fun being all dressed up but not having to drop a ton of money on the meal.
Fun atmosphere, but not too much money.
Hope you find a spot that fits you guys perfect.

The Hyatt at Gainey Ranch, great dinner at a reasonable cost and atmosphere.
