Hi, I purchased a grain mill to grind my own wheat to make homebaked whole wheat bread. Does anybody know where can I buy 50 lb. bags of Whole Wheat? Thank you!

What can I do next?

Wow! a 50 pound bag... I make our own bread because my daughter has a milk allergy. I use 2 cups of flour per loaf. Each loaf lasts about a week. I estimate that I may have bought 10-14 bags of flour since last November... So over a year, I probably used 50lbs. But I only had to keep one 5lb bag fresh at a time. I just wanted to mention this because if it was me, I'd really need to think about where I'd going to store the bag, how to keep mites/critters (and children!) out of it, how to keep moisture and humidity away so the grains didn't get moldy...

You probably can find it at Whole Foods or a farmers market.

Hope that helps.

Hi S.,
Good for you!
There is a place in
Waco, Texas that has organic whole wheat- they grow their own and have a grist mill where it is processed naturally.
I do not have their website but they are on the internet...
they are called
Homestead Heritage and you may be able to find them thru a search......they also have other products they will ship to you such as Honey, Sorgumn syrup- all kinds of mixes-ie pancake= cookie- etc-
Like I said- they grow their own and harvest and prepare without commercial processing
Let me know if you cannot find them and I will try to get the correct website for you....
my PM e mail is ____@____.com
good luck and blessings

My mother-in-law is kind of in charge of "food storage" in our church. It just means she helps people order food in bulk for saving for the future, or just because it's sometimes more cost effective to buy it that way. Her bane us Becky, and her e-mail is ____@____.com can help you through ordering and pick up and all that mess if you're interested.

Here's a list of prices and products that you can get. The church buys it at cost and then sells it at cost. They don't mark up the prices like you would find at Whole Foods or somewhere like that.

I would suggest the white wheat berries even though they are a little more expensive. They taste better, easier on your belly, and grind well.

www.emergencyessentials.com also has a lot of products to choose from. However, I would watch the site and wait for sales. They have some interesting things for cheap sometimes.

Shop around. Good luck!

You can also have Central Market order it for you if they don't have it in stock. (in the bulk section of the market)

A great place to get whole wheat is from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You can order whole wheat from their Distribution Center. I ordered my wheat from them and I'm very happy with it. It comes by the case in six #10 cans. Just go to www.ldscatalog.com. You can also buy the large bags from this churches Storehouses, they are located near most large cities. Hope that helps.

S.,
I am in San Diego right now, so cannot look up this phone number for you. Look up Phyliss Nannen on 304 Sycamore in Cedar Park. She buys buckets of whole wheat kernals and might have some for sale. She is a widow and this is how she makes money.
