My son is 17 months. He was diagnosed with coxsackie virus 2 days ago. He had a 102 fever X 2 days. Pediatrician says the sores in is throat were pretty bad. He is drinking but cries a lot. Just wondering if anyone had any experience with this and how long before their throat is less painful?? Tia!

What can I do next?

Poor thing! I hope you are giving him tylenol or ibuprofen to help give him some pain relief.

Can you try ice chips or popsicles? The cold temps can help with the pain sometimes.

Poor little one!

What did your doctor say?
With sores that bad, figure for a rough couple of weeks.
Keeping up with the fluids is the best thing for it.
Our son had a very mild case of it - he never even got a fever - just a few blisters on his hands and feet.

I found that day 4 was the turning point. Day 3 was better than day 2. But 1 and 2 are the worst. My daughter got hers on the very first day of preschool when she was almost 2. Apparently, she got wet playing in a puddle.

And I also got it. I was way sicker than her. It sucked. So be sure to wash your hands very well and often.
