Hi K.
I think it is a good idea to sign your daughter up for preschool come January. I truely believe that preschool does ALOT for a child! (I am a former preschool teacher). Obviously every child is different but if you think your daughter would be ready for preschool I would look into it! Begin to talk about it / prepare her for it. But don't over do it with the preparation - this can sometimes cause anxiety in a child. As you may be aware of, many preschools will do 1/2 days and/or offer just a couple of days a week to students. Example: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am - 12am.
I think this is great because it gives the kids an opportunity to learn to be independant from the parent(s), the child can learn new social skills, take direction/instruction from someone other than their parents (meaning the teachers), and of course to learn some basic school-like knowledge (ABC's counting, etc). Preschool is usually (and should be!) a "play-based" learning environment, so its usually a fun experience for children. However, a heads up - don't be upset with your self if at first your daughter cries at drop-off in the beginning! If its a good preschool the teachers/director will know how to handle this - it's COMPLETELY normal! And usually just a short-lived phase. With that advice, best of luck and I appologize for not knowing of any preschools in the area you mentioned but wanted to give you my opinion of preschools!
