I was wondering when we could start feeding baby rice in his bottle????
I have started feeding him rice he is 4 months and i thought for sure this would help him sleep throught the night but has not. He likes to eat it and has gained weight. Thanks
According to Dr.'s you are never suppose to put rice cereal in the bottle. But on another note I started my son at about 4 months but he was full term and huge 9lbs. 6oz at birth but normaled out very quickly because he started crawling at 3 months and never stopped moving since then. If you are in doubt talk to your dr.
We have 3 children now and our pediatrician and all the literature says to start babies on rice cereal between 4-6 months and then by a spoon not the bottle. I guess before 4 months their stomachs are not able to digest the cereal anyway and it just sits there. Being that you have a preemie I would think the earliest you would be given the o.k. by your doctor was 3 1/2 months gestational age. I took my daughter in for her four month old checkup and we had started her on cereal at 3 1/2 months because she was gulping down 8 ounces at a time and was still hungry.
I started rice about 3 months. I did use a bottle but, we put formula in a seperate bottle. The doctor told us if we added rice to his 1 bottle that he could get dehydrated. The formula, or milk, is a quencher to the thick rice. Also when starting out, make the rice very runny. Then gradually thicken it. Only give your baby a small amount as well. Hopefully this will help.
I had a 33 week preemie and I believe I started rice cereal in the bottle around 3 or 4 mos.
