I would give the kid polenta before ever giving him chicken. Poultry is the number 1 food poisoning culprit: http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5hLavkyZ...

I may not be educated enough on this to give you the answer you are looking for. My kids didn't eat meat till they were one but they were eating veg, fruit, yogurt, beans, dry crackers and rice cakes, polenta and pasta by 10 months. After about a month (around 7 to 8 months old) of just fruits and veges I pretty much threw everything at them. I didn't start my kids with "baby food" though, I waited till they could feed themselves with their fingers and made regular table food small and soft. Hope this helps.

I would start off with rice. Most people are not allergic to rice. Once you move towards corn (polenta) and wheat (pasta) you will need to make sure your child is not allergic.

Honestly I think it depends on you and your son. Some people will say what you are giving him now isnt right for his age. I would say if he is doing well with all the other stuff then do it now. Im assuming you puree the chicken so just puree the pasta too!

IMO babies can eat what we eat. Just avoid the high allergens like berries, nuts, eggs, etc.

You are doing well! Our favorite source for baby care is Dr. Bob Sears. Have interviewed him several times on our radio show, Better Food Choices, met him and read his books. He is totally on target, keeps up with research, balances the value of natural and western medicine, and is part of pediatric family: father, brother and sister. You can trust him with the health of your baby... for the health of your family, E. (www.KidKritics.com)

You don't say whether he eats pureess or finger food. I assume with his age it is purees. I think you can introduce the pasta an dpolenta now, but he may gag. Mash or chop small and experiement to see how he does. I had high anxiety about choling hazards so I probably waited longer then I needed to. The fact is , they learn to eat eventually so just do what makes you comfortable. Ther eis really no wrong time, as long as he is safe.
