Hey Ladies! I was wondering when I should start taking my daughter to see a dentist? She is 15 months old, which seems too young, but she has 12 teeth already. I've heard now, I've heard wait until she is 2 years old....I'm confused! Any suggestions of a good dentist in the Nashville or surrounding areas would be helpful also. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I have a 12 month old who we just took to the dentist a couple of weeks ago. She only has 4 teeth, but our pediatrician said children should see a dentist around one just to check things out and learn how to begin good oral hygiene practices. I recently moved to the Nashville area and found a great pediatric dentist through a recommendation on MamaSource. His name is Dr. Timothy McNutt and his office number is ###-###-####. They don't take insurance, but they give you a claim form to send to your insurance company. It is really easy and not really too expensive in the first place. Dr. McNutt is really good with kids and his office is very inviting for children of all ages.

D. ~ If she has teeth, I would take her now. My daughter was 8 months when we went to the dentist for the first time. The younger they start, the more comfortable they are with the experience.

My child's pediatrician told me to take mine at 3 years of age (she just went in for her 3 year check-up & her doctor told me her teeth looked great!). She did, however, advise me to begin brushing her teeth (when she turned 1.) We brush her teeth 2x/day.

I took mine at 1 and the dentist said the first toth to come in is when you need to bring them in. She did great. He is a pediatric dentist. I have heard some say wait until 3 yrs old but luckily i took my youngest at 1 due to some plaque behind her top teeth. She also had issues with the skin between her gum line. Good luck and get her in there. God bless
