Roughly about a year ago, I wrote a very personal testimony to share with all you Mama's. I shared the loss of our baby in the womb. I was 3 months. We kept our Faith alive and believed in our heart that we would be blessed by the Lord.. once again! And Praise God! We are! We are a lil' over 4 months now and I was wondering... Am I supposed to be feeling the baby move yet? My Midwife says.. I may feel some flutters, but I will feel movement later on... I wanted to ask you "Moms" out there.. How was it for you? I guess it might be different for everyone huh? I had my son Jeremiah in Jan. 2007, but gosh I cannot remember when I felt him move for the 1st time.. I do remember he moved a lot later on..like 8 months or so. ;) Do you think that boys are lazier? to move? Or are the girls? lazier? to move? Pls.. refresh my memory! Thanks.. Mamas!

I still do not feel much of anything, but I am just taking it easy and getting a kick off of the flutters I do feel from time to time! So Thanks Again! and May God Bless all of you! Oh yeah.. I have another appointment on April 9th! I will make sure to update as well.

Hi L.,
I didn't feel any real movement on a regular basis until aboug 6 months. 4 months is still early to feel this. Sometimes at 4 months you feel the flutters but you have to really pay attention - they are not that easy to feel.

I had a miscarrage the first time and I was a little stressed the 2nd time but it all worked out.

So try not to stress about what happened before and keep relaxed and you'll be fine.

Good luck!

With my first, I didn't feel her move until around 20 weeks (5 months) - and she was a big baby (9 lbs 4 oz at birth). I even went to the hospital once because I couldn't feel her move, and the ultrasound showed her moving all over the place, I just couldn't feel it. So I wouldn't be worried at all at 4 months if you aren't feeling any movement. I think the bigger worry is when you have started feeling regular movement and then don't for a long stretch.

Each pregnancy is different. If you feel that butterfly sensations or like bubbles/gurgling in your tummy, that is the baby.
The reason that a baby is felt more in later months is basically because as the baby grows, there is less space for the baby to move around in, thus, you feel the baby's every movement.

I felt that preliminary "movement"/fluttering in my tummy from about 4 months...

No, boys are not 'lazier' nor girls. Again, each pregnancy is different and the 'personality' of the baby. And what you eat can affect them too and their movements in your tummy. Certainly no caffeine!

My girl was more active at night and kicked more. Hard. She was also more active whenever after I ate. My son although active throughout the day, did not kick me as hard, and I could tell when he was sleeping...he was more regular about that and even after he was born.

Congratulations and all the best,
Susan

L.,

I agree with all the other Mommies, every pregnancy is different. I had friends who felt movement/flutters early on in the 4th month and others who didn't feel anything until 6 mos. But, for me it was one of those things where I ALWAYS thought I felt something, until about mid-5th month when I felt a sharp kick and he didn't stop up to when my son was delivered.

Good Luck with your pregnancy and congrats on the baby and your beautiful family!!

Hi,
I went through the same thing with my daughter too! I didn't feel her move like I did with my son and I mentioned it to my ob. She told me that I probably wasn't feeling her as much because I had an anterior placenta, meaning it was attached at the front rather than the back! That made me feel SO much better. That might be your case as well. I found that laying on my side with my knees brought up to my tummy I could feel her move right where my leg creased in around my pelvis area. You're still pretty early so I wouldn't worry! I hope this helps!

If I remember correctly, I started feeling my first baby move (flutters) around 22-24 weeks. Since it was my first, I was not familiar with the sensation and I think it took a little while for me to be sure it was really the baby. With my 2nd, I'm pretty sure I was feeling him a little bit earlier (maybe 20 weeks?), because I knew the feeling (and my boys are only 15 months apart so it hadn't been long :). I have 2 boys and neither were terribly active, compared to stories I have heard. But I can't remember which gender is typically more active. I'm sure you will be feeling this one soon enough. Congratulations on your new little blessing!

Hi, L..

I don't when a baby is supposed to start moving. My daughter is 6 years old. I became pregnant with her on April 18th or 19th (yes...I almost know the exact date). Without finding my diary to be sure of the exact date, but I first felt her move sometime in August. So it was about 4 months. But it could be different for different people. I just remember feeling like I had butterflies in my stomach. My sister-in-law told me that it was the baby..

Good luck.

L., though everyone is different, I didn't know my baby was moving until I went in for my sonogram at 24 weeks (6 months!)

What I've done is to get one of those heartbeat monitors, the kind that you can stick on your belly and listen for a heartbeat. It's hard to find it sometimes, and it may cause you to freak out if you can't find it, but at the same time, if you CAN find the heartbeat, it really does give you a sense of relief and peace.

You will feel wierd little things that you get confused because you've felt tiny crampy seconds or just different things before, without being pregnant. But with both my girls, and that's all I have, one 16 and one 3, they made that ever-so-famous flutter during the fifth month. Like clockwork, right into the 5th month there it was.

Congratulations on your pregnancy - and your schooling also! I didn't feel my son moving until around 17 or 18 weeks along. I've heard it can be sooner, but I think it depends on the woman. I had a very active job so I wasn't still very often which I think made a difference. Take care!

Hi L.,
I'm 3-1/2 months pregnant with my third, and really haven't felt much movement. Only 2 or three times and it was very slight "fluttering". I don't exactly remember when
I felt in my other two, though I think it was close to 20 weeks.
Blessings to you and your family.
With love, your "sister" in Christ,

L., First, congrats to you and your family! That is AWESOME! I think they typically say you feel the baby move from 17 weeks (about 4 months). I am the mother of 4 children and I think I felt each one move at a different time. Since it has been 2 years since you had your son, it might take a while for you to remember the "fluttering" in the beginning.

God Bless you and your baby!

I know everything will be okay! Your mid-wife is absolutely correct. You may begin to feel small flutters which will eventually grow into undeniable movements.

The amount of movement is determined by the baby. My son was so lazy...I called the Dr several times complaining I hadn't felt movement in a day or two at a time. He would advise that I eat something and lay down after (turned to side). More often than not, the baby moved a little. Putting my mind at ease that all was well!

My daughter on the other hand made sure I didn't miss a meal. She was so active there was no doubt she was moving.

Their personality was already pre-determined before they faced the outside world. They continue to carry the same characteristic now. He's a very laid back, calm 12 year old boy and Bella is a 9 year old energetic little girl.

Keep your FAITH strong at all times and Jesus will see you through!!!

Congratulations L.! Well most mom's start feeling around 5 months or so! I carried my son very low and had a harder time feeling him! It depends on where the baby is and his/her activity level! I think 5 months or so is about the time though when it starts happening! Don't worry! I have had 6 miscarriages and my last one was at 5 1/2 months with twin boys! Let this pregnancy be peaceful! Your baby will kick when he is ready! God has his hand in the whole thing!

My first 2 I felt moving a lot earlier than I did with my third that I'm pregnant with now. Of course this time around I never stop enough to notice. Those first movements are so small and subtle that you can easily thing they're your tummy gurgling and not the baby actually moving. I didn't start feeling what I knew for sure was my little girl until about 5 months along. I am now 27 weeks along and have no doubt that she's constantly on the move and dancing up a storm.
There are many factors as to how early you feel the baby move. If a woman is overweight she might not feel it until later than a woman who is thin type thing. Also how active you are in your day will effect how often you realize your baby is moving.
I had a miscarriage before this pregnancy after having 2 successful pregnancies and my 2 sons so this time around I found myself worried until I could feel her move. I can sympathise completely. When I've had especially busy days I will force myself to sit and make her move to make sure she's still OK.
As to the are girls and boys different...well...I've had 2 boys and now am pregnant with a girl and I don't think there is any difference in activity level and such. But it could just be my kids LOL
Best of luck!

Every baby is so different, regardless of gender! I have two boys and am 6 months pregnant with the 3rd! My first son moved the most and the strongest! My second moved a lot too...but this little boy seems to be very lazy. I have just recently (last week) been feeling him more, but he's still not all that strong. His movements are light and gentle...if you will. My first two would double me over with kicks to my organs! This baby is even super lazy during ultrasounds. I have to drink sodas before them to ensure a little movement. He's just lazy. I first noticed him moving slightly around four and a half months...but that was like one movement a week. Now I feel him everyday. Good luck!

Congratulations!

I had two girls and felt them both slightly at about 5 months. Both pregnancies I carried in my @$$! I didn't look pregnant, just big! Anyway, as for movement, it was very active except my second one where I felt a lot of activity, but at one point I did not feel movement and had to drink about a pint of iced water in an hour and then she started moving. I had some trouble with my amniotic fluids in the end.

Healthy wishes to all of you.
