M.M.
I'd say at 36 weeks also. I have always been dialated by then and get my membranes stripped at 38 weeks. I'm 32 weeks right now and went ahead used the bikini hair removal cream. just in case.
I forgot. I cant remember when they check you. Im 33 weeks pregnant and Im going to the doc Tues. I go every two weeks now. I want to be prepared if you know what I mean. :) I mean, if no ones looking, I dont bother. Just curious...

I have never had mine checked till I was in labor--I'm not sure what the point is before that...
My Dr. didn't check until I was in labor. I asked why, and she said dilation was not an indicator of when labor would start. She also said she would check if I really wanted to know - I passed.
Mine start at 36-38 weeks depending on what the Dr. feels like. She didn't check me until 38 weeks with my 1st but this time around it was a little earlier.
Mine starts at 36 weeks (I'm at 33 weeks and had the same thought yesterday on my way in with my toddler in tow :) )
In respose to the person who said they didn't understand why they check before labor, my doctor says she checks to make sure the babies head is down so there aren't any surprises.
She is also very clear that it isn't to give you an idea when you will actually go into labor because you could be 4 cm and waiting... just depends.
38 weeks for my doc, unless something was irregular that they felt the need to check.
Call the office tomorrow and ask. Mine starts pelvic checks at 36 weeks.
Yep, 36 weeks is about right :)
haahaa! I had the same thought! I'm 34 weeks, but sched for c-section May 9th. I haven't been checked yet. not sure...
Never. It is completely unneccessary and tells you nothing about when labor will start. Cervical checks should not be done unless the mom is in active labor. You also run the risk of infection. I am a midwife and we don't do any checks prenatally unless something is going on, such as premature labor. You can tell your doctor that no checks will be done until labor.
I don't know why, but my first dr checked me at 34 weeks and said everything was fine. My water broke and I went into labor the NEXT DAY. I've heard that this check could have been a factor, but I don't know that for sure.
I went with a different dr for my next child, and I don't think I was checked (can't remember, but I don't think so?). If I was, it was at 36 weeks. I had my 2nd child at 37 weeks but they were keeping a close watch on his size for my health reasons, and he was induced at that time.
I know this sounds silly, but I "stayed ready" just in case...but you could always call and ask.
