11 month old LO sleeps just fine and there's nothing wrong with him, but he's started the pattern of waking, babbling, going back to sleep over and over at night and I'm just curious about how long it might last. At the moment, they only place we can put him to sleep at night is right beside my side of the bed and I'm going crazy not being able to sleep at night. I've searched all over the internet, but nobody has mentioned how long it lasted. Is my only solution going to be earplugs until however long it takes to get his room done (it requires everything..new drywall, new floors..you name it..)..
I'm not trying to dismiss you because sleep deprivation stinks! But you are going to MISS this stage. I loved baby babble and it's so wonderful that he isn't crying every time he wakes! He sounds like a happy little guy that loves to hear himself talk. If at all possible, try and get him in his own room (or walk in closet, even). Baby babble at night sounds even better muffled. :)
Wow, your 11 month old wakes and babbles and puts themself back to sleep. That is perfectly awesome. Try saying to yourself: I don’t have to get up, I just get to lay here and go back to sleep. Until you can get other sleeping places arranged, you will have to train yourself to be delighted and not irritated by nighttime babbles.
My daughter did this when she was about 12 months to 18 months. She would wake up for hours at a time and just roll around, look around, and babble. She would eventually go to sleep. She was in her own room in a crib at the time. My friends son does this (but he cries and babbles) and he’s 15 months. She just leaves him be if she knows he’s fine.
I think mine did this when they were learning to self soothe (put themselves back to sleep). You don't mention how old your child is. I don't really remember it being a problem - just being aware a bit, probably on the monitor. It didn't go on long, or else I'd remember it.
How old is he?
It might be time to get him in a crib/room of his own.
If he's sleep talking he'll probably out grow it by the time he's a teenager.
But a few people never out grow it.
I talk and sing in my sleep.
When I was in school and in chorus or choir - right up through high school - my mom would often hear me singing over night.
Even now - many nights my husband will tell me in the morning about a conversation we had - and I have no memory of it - I was asleep through the whole thing.
In the mean time - ear plugs might be your best bet.

or when he's 12. or 20.
or never.
i mean......how can this even be answered?
it's probably a phase. how long do most phases last for babies under a year?
