G.L.
We do the old school twelve days, so the tree comes down after Three Kings Day (January 6). We don't tend to put it up until a couple of days before Christmas.
I am the weirdo in my group of friends, all who take down their tree within a few days of Christmas... I take mine down on New Year's Eve.
Growing up, it came down whenever anyone had the motivation to take it down... One year we had it up until Valentine's Day, so we redecorated it for that. Lol.
I have one friend who takes hers down on Christmas, as soon as her family will allow her. Lol.
When does your tree come down?

I use to do it on January 2. Now, I will do it January 6. Thanks moms. Learn something new every day.
January 1, every year. Never heard of 3 Kings Day or Epiphany though. Am I missing out on something good???
Epiphany, January 6, the 12th day of Christmas.
Not before Epiphany for sure, and sometimes not until Super Bowl Sunday.
But Super Bowl Sunday is absolutely my drop-dead deadline. :)
Sometime after Jan 6.
I celebrate all 12 days of Christmas, so I take the tree down on Epiphany, January 6th.
No sooner than January 6th, the Epiphany (3 King's Day)
Probably next week sometime, close to the 6th. I'm ready to be "cleaned-up," however. All the new toys have homes, the toy room looks normal, so I'd like my living room back too. Maybe I'll do it this weekend. Hubby is old school, though, and likes to wait to the 6th.
Usually the last few days before Epiphany, since we have a live tree and burn it on Epiphany. (Jan 6). Sometimes it comes down on New Year's Day. It just depends on when the weekend is before Epiphany. This year, Epiphany is on a Monday, to the tree will probably come down the Friday or Saturday before (Jan 3 or 4). I'll get the decorations repackaged and put into the attic on Sunday, and we'll carry the tree over to where we'll have our church's Epiphany service on Monday.
We found such a beautiful tree this year. I am not ready to take it down yet. We had a big party here last night and it doesn't even feel like Christmas. I love my decorations and my tree. It will stay up for awhile yet.
About a week or so after the New Year.
Unless it's bugging me. : )
Normally, not until 6 Jan for Ephiphany, Little Christmas, 3 King's Day ... Whichever tradition you want to call it. It's the day the three wise men arrived at the manger and is the "official" end of the Christmas season, thus the 12 days of Christmas.
This year, however, we have our toddler's birthday party on Sunday, then we leave on Tuesday for a week or so. So, I want it down earlier so I don't come back to it. Believe the plan we agreed to is to take it down tomorrow, which is seriously breaking tradition for me. But, I'll get over it and enjoy it even more so tonight.
When I feel like it, which is usually sometime after the 1st. lol
Usually January 6th, which is how it was growing up. But if w have a live tree, if the thing is dropping needles like crazy (and getting on my nerves cleaning it up) then it comes down sooner. My husband also celebrates 3 Kings Day with small gifts and special bread so it keeps things festive. A friend of mine takes hers down the first thing Dec 26.
We take ours down about a week after New Years. We buy ours only a week beforehand and put it up the weekend just before Christmas, so within a few days of Christmas, it's still new and a novelty for us.
usually we take it down a day or 2 after new years. but, this year we are not having people over for new years eve, we are going out. so - we are taking it down this weekend :-)
If i had it my way it would be down already LOL. But since the garbage won't pick it up until Jan. 6th I've gone ahead and taken down all the other decorations and will do the ornaments over the next few days and the lights right before tossing it.
We put ours up a week or so before Christmas and we take it down 2nd week in January.
Tomorrow. I took down everything outside today.
Day after Little Christmas.
During Christmas Vacation since the kids are home from school and can help. I cant stand clutter and when all the sparkle and fun of Christmas is over, I am ready to clear out all the decorations, leftover junk food and deep clean everything. I pretty much go through a crazy "nesting" phase the week after Christmas and usually end up buying lots of organizers, cleaner and going nuts. (I do the same thing with my body- start clearing out the junk! I am so ready to start focusing on healthy eating and lots of activity!)
I have already started putting my easier stuff away. It will be down before New Years. I just figure I have a long list of things to do before baby bean arrives in Feb that I just need to get it done and out of the way to clear my mind.
Usually after New Years....but last year we went on vacation and we are headed out again on Sunday for a week. I don't want it up that long while we are gone and since I'm on leave this week also and had time, it's all down. The boxes are in the foyer for my husband to put away when he gets home from work tonight - hopefully they get put away.
But when we are staying in town and will have time around the New Year, we do it then.
wow, you are good!. I take mine down whenever I get around to it. That means, sometime by the end of January. Hey, I have to recuperaite from Christmas, which takes at least a week for me. It takes me antother couple weeks after Christmas to clean the living room of leftover wrapping paper, toys, batteries, cards etc. Although, it is strange to see the tree up for so long after Christmas, I figure I'll get around to it soon enough.
Usually around New Year's. I might take it down this Sunday.
Ours is artificial so we take it down whenever we get around to it. We hardly ever get it up before a couple days before Christmas at best most of the time. Once it's up we get lazy about putting it away. Some years it comes down faster than others, depending on how much the cats mess with it. It never goes down until after the New Year though no matter how late or early we do it.
Christmas is 12 days, not 1... so, for us, whatever weekend falls after Epiphany.
