my daughter is 13 months, she's not walking yet, but she is the fasted crawler (so she's getting around just fine). she is cruising holding furniture, standing up from seating without support (for 2 ms)at about 11,5 months she was interested in walking holding hand(s). now all of the sudden she completely refuses walking holding our hands or holding walker, throws herself on the floor, sometimes crying - we never forced her, she never fell, but for some reason she does not want to do it anymore. i don't think its a problem and i know she still has plenty of time. i'm just wondering at what age your babies started to walk? and if they acted like my daughter does? all babies that i know started to walk at 12mos or even younger.but i know even 18ms is ok to start walking. thank you for your response.

My daughter started walking around 15 months. She loved crawling and walking with our help and we didn't push the walking. One day she just let go and took a step on her own. I wouldn't worry about it. She'll walk when she is ready.

He Y.,
Well my son was an early walker. He started at 10 month's. But he didn't start talking until he was over 2 years old. I'll tell you what I was told. Dont worry. Every baby is different dont get worked up.

Hi Y.,

My daughter started to walk right on her first birthday. She was very eager and very daring. My son, on the other hand, did not start walking until he was about 14 to 15 months. And, even then, I had to hold his hand. Sometimes children do not trust their own feet and legs. At the mere sign of their legs shaking, they stop walking. It's very uncomfortable to them. Just let her walk at her own time. Trust me, when she starts seeing other kids (younger than her) walking, she would probably become interested again. But always reasure her and help her trust herself.

Take care!

Sandy :)

My son started walking at 16 months. He had been cruising for months before that, and it seemed like he was about to walk any day now...but no, he kept cruising and crawling, or walking with our help. I think for some babies, walking is such a big developmental leap for them that they're reluctant to do it even when they're physically able. With my son, I felt part of the delay was fear of falling, and maybe fear of taking a step away from babyhood, if you know what I mean. Also, is your daughter big for her age? My son is tall and I've noticed that bigger babies seem to take longer...maybe it's more difficult for them to keep their balance.
Since he started walking, though, he got very steady on his feet very quickly, and now wants to run everywhere. So yes, they all do it in their own sweet time!
