Number 1 one arrived the day after the his due date. Number 2 and number 3 were about a week late. Number 4 was also about a week later than expected, too, I think. (My children are all grown, so this is ancient history.) However, he was the only one to be born at the end of summer - the others were all spring babies. So I just thought it was the heat that made me feel I was going to be pregnant forever!
If the later pregnancies were "dragging" - and that does bring back memories - I assumed it was because, all other things being equal, later babies are easier to have but harder to carry.
I discovered that if I started painting a room or doing some sort of craft that took a lot of equipment that I had to leave out, that prompted labor to start in earnest. ;^) If I'd had a big project in August, maybe Daniel would have arrived then instead of waiting for September. But it was too doggone hot.
