It was so easy to have it taken out! I didn't feel a thing, and I had a lot of pain when it was put in! It'll be a breeze.
I've had my IUD (Mirena) since Oct 2010 after I had my daughter. I'm one of the lucky ones that I didn't have any side-effects or what not, barely bled, and haven't really had a period since then. I'm having it taken out next week as we decided we are going to start trying for a second child. I'm just curious as to what others have experienced after the fact. I know the doctor gave the 'scary' possibilities as a precaution but that most just have slight bleeding but can start trying to get pregnant right away. Just curious as to what I might expect....
Thanks everyone! Quick and easy seemed to be the norm! A slight cramp right when she pulled on the string but other than that nothing else! No bleeding or any other cramping throughout the day. Then again I didn't have any problems when it was inserted either ie bleeding, etc. Cervix/uterus looks great, just like it should after have one baby already :) tmi but eh lol. I did get her opinion on the miscarriages and she says there is no increase in chance of miscarriages with Mirena, not anymore than the 1 in 5 that happen normally anyways. Just depends on how long it takes my body to get back to normal as far as for getting pregnant. She's had moms that got pregnant on their next cycle and some (which was the avg) that took a couple months. So here's to good luck to us on getting pregnant!

I had mine removed and had no problems with that. I did suffer a miscarriage after becoming pregnant two months after having it removed. Give yourself a little time to recover before trying to get pregnant. It takes a little while for everything to get back to normal.
It's been years but from what I remember, it was easier taking it out than putting it in. I strongly encourage you to wait a month or two before actually trying. Do some research on the stats of Mirena users having miscarriages after becoming pregnant quickly after removal. I don't mean to scare you, but this happened to a good friend of mine and she would have simply waited a month or two to avoid a miscarriage.
Mirena is the devil!
It takes less than a minute to come out; quick and painless.
Best part, you'll feel 50% 'normal' by the end of the day, 100% 'normal' by the end of the week!!
I had a little cramping and light bleeding when it first came out. Normal period was back in a couple weeks. We started trying to get pregnant right away. With using a period tracker on my phone we were pregnant within three months. Goo Luck!
I like you haven't had any problems with mine. I had my first taken out about 3 months before I started trying for my second babe. I wanted a little time back to "normal" so that I could track the dates better. It took me four months to get pregnant, which was just a little longer than with my first. I had a great pregnancy, have a lovely baby, and am now on my second Mirena. Good luck!
I'm glad you didn't have to suffer the horrible side-effects that Mirena says don't happen. After having terrible increasing joint pain for several months I got online and read about it, and found that thousands of other women were having the exact same problems as me. I immediately had it removed (easy as pie, by the way) and within a month I was back to normal.
I just had mine removed a few months ago and it was no problem at all. The actual removal caused no pain and my periods since then have been the same as they were before the IUD. I also got rid of horrible back pain that I had for 5 years that I never knew was related to the IUD until I did some research online. So glad to have it out!
Removal is quick and easy. Takes abotu 5 seconds. After my first removal, I got pregnant on my first full cycle (ie. removal, bled 3 weeks later, got pregnant next cycle). My second removal, it took 7 months to get pregnant. My third removal, it took 3 months to get pregnant.
Having my IUD taken out was no problem either. The doctor warned me that it may be painful or whatever, but it was a non issue.
I had no problems getting my IUD taken out. My doctor was very good about it and told me that I probably would not feel a thing but since he injected a little novacaine in my uterus when he put it in I asked him to put a little in when he took it out.
It was almost no discomfort going out than going in. I began ovulating regularly again about 2 months later, which was the same as when I had stopped the pill. GL.
No worse than a pap smear. Got my period about six weeks later and a PPT a month after that. And now he's a healthy, happy four month old!
I had no problems getting the IUD out. TMI alert--I didn't notice a dramatic decrease in my sex drive with the IUD in, but I definitely felt my sex drive return after having it removed. I experienced weight gain after the placement of my Mirena (20 lbs, ugh!) and I had to do a big detox after having it removed in order to lose the weight.
I had mine put in in 09' and taken out in 10'. Its so quick all you do is take a deep breath and exhale and its over, it hurts more to get your eyebrows waxed. you will be fine, but on the flip side we have been trying for over a year to have #2 and so far no luck. I know one does not have to do with the other but please be aware that getting preggers right away is not the norm. gl
