I think what ever you are comfortable in that looks nice would be okay. It is nice you are going to visit him and eat with them.
Hey moms!
I am suppose to be having dinner at my brother's fire station for Thanksgiving. My brother and I are about the same age. There will be other people there and the other fire fighters. I have not met the men at this fire house. Any suggestions on what to wear? I have no idea what time they are serving the food either. I know this may be a silly question...but I do want to make a good first impression, especially for my brother. I want to look my age, 27 any suggestions? I was thinking a black cashmere sweater with a black and white skirt (its super cute and fun, mature, but cute!) ? It should be nice weather here. I don't want to look like frumpy or anything LOL.
Thanks!
Oh yeah, my brother hasn't told me nor my parents to bring anything. He's very much the "whatever" type. LOL.

Before I got to your outfit description, I thought black pants and a sweater. Your outfit sounds nice!
Hi dancer-
I would suggest wearing something 'comfy'...yet seasonal...leggins with a 'seasonal' oversized sweater?
I would also be sure to bring something...brownies? Veggies and dip?
Go...
Have fun...
THANK THEM for their service...
Relax...
best luck!

No matter where I go for Thanksgiving dinner, I wear elastic waist pants. ;)
Sounds just perfect!
Have fun!
Keep in mind that fire stations aren't the WARMEST places. They are pretty industrial so I'd go with pants.
Be prepared for a freakin' FREAST! The wives always baked an insane amount of pies for their husbands and dropped them off. My dad was a FF for 31 years and they would have a TON of food and eat ALL day PROVIDED they didn't have to go on a run. I HOPE they have a quiet day but ya just never know what's going to happen.
I remember my dad having steak and lobster some years because nobody wanted turkey. (They had a REALLY expensive food bill that month.)
I like the black pants/sweater idea too. I'm sure you will make a great impression.
Hell no, you dont want to look frumpy! In a room full of firefighters? Girl, look classy and then throw some knee high boots on to slut it up! :)
Have fun!
If you're looking for a "hot husband" something flirty and cute. LOL! Just kidding! All of the firefighters I know are very handsome and in great shape, so I couldn't resist the joke.
Seriously, dress like you would for church or a holiday dinner at grandmas. Conservative but pretty. You'll be fine. Wouldn't want any wives, mothers, girlfriends or daughters getting bent out of shape if this is a family affair.
I would recommend the sweater that you mentioned with skinny jeans and some cute boots. Also i would throw in a bling necklace or a chunky one to add something extra. You want to be comfy and a skirt to me isn't that comfortable. I am sure you will look cute in whatever you choose. Have Fun!!!
Also something so easy to make that tastes great. I just had it at a party the other day. Take pretzels and put them on a cookie sheet, then place a rolo on top of each one. Bake until they melt just a little then add a pecan. They taste great and are the easiet thing ever to make.
Your outfit sounds cute. I would also definitely bring something to the meal, it shows you care, you can cook & look good too ; ) Be sure to have a great time, all those combined are a sure way to make a lasting good impression on everyone. ~ Enjoy
As the wife of a firefighter who has spent many a holiday at card tables in the fire station bay... I would recommend warm/layers and nothing too formal. I think pants and a sweater are a great idea. Usually the families come around 1-2 hours before the dinner for everyone to get together and socialize and finish preparing dinner. The kitchen quarters are usually pretty crowded and hot (hence the layers). Just be prepared to stay for a while, because they're likely to get a call or two while you're there. Enjoy your turkey day!
Fire stations are very casual places - you'll be fine. Most likely nice jeans and a nice sweater will work. I'd bring something if you can. You can always leave it for the next shift if you don't need it - I've never seen firefighters turn down food!
I'd probably say pants too.
On another note, I'd bring a quiche or nice loaf of breakfast bread. You know they'll have a ton of Thanksgiving food, but something for the morning after would be a nice touch!
I like the sound of your outfit but don't know that I would wear white or a skirt to a fire station. What if they offer to let you slide down the pole? LOL Seriously, I would probably wear pants and not white - that place might not be the cleanest since it generally houses a bunch of men! Also, you should most definitely show up with a cake or pie or something that can be eaten that day or is okay for later. Your parents should too. Not cool to show up empty handed even if your brother is clueless and says its okay!
