What to Use to Clean My Glass Tables?

And before you all say vinegar and water with newspaper...been there done that. The newspaper is leaving fiber/lint on the glass. I've used Windex with vinegarNothing seems to work. Everything I use leaves the glass looking streaky and cloudy, not sparkling. The last time I got them sparkling, I had to remove the glass from the table and wash it with soap and water, then wipe it clean with a dry cloth. But the glass is way too heavy to do that again. I didn't notice it before because my table was in a different place, but I moved it to decorate for Christmas and now the sunlight shines right on it.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks ladies for your responses...oso, everytime I look at those tables, I think "why did I get glass?" and trying to fit new non-glass tables into my budget. I will get rid of them if nothing works. But Gamma and Suz T, I will try your ideas first....

I have a solid oak table and a glass top table. I have always had real wood but it gets water marks easily so I thought I would try glass. I HATE IT! I just clean mine with Windex and paper towels and cover it with a table cloth. I will never buy a glass table again. Not to mention we needed 2 huge men to get it in the house because it's so heavy. Good luck.

As part of a hockey fundraiser, we got these things called Streak Free cloths. I think they are microfiber .. not 100% sure. They are just these white fairly thick cloths. You wet them with water, ring it out and use them. I have to say, they work really well. I have these big glass doors in my house that must have had a film on them when we bought the home. I used everything. Everything you mentioned, plus some other glass cleaners I found and other cloths. This streak free cloths are better. Good luck :)

i'm with you. the vinegar and newspaper thing has never worked for me. i don't understand how anyone cleans with newspaper. for me it leaves ink smears and fibers everywhere.

my husband says they use something called 'invisible glass' at work, but i haven't tried it yet.

i don't have glass tables any more, so can't recommend this personally. maybe try it in a small section. but i work at an artisan gift shop, and one of our artists who works in stained glass showed me how to polish her pieces, and i was blown away. it's so counter-intuitive, but it works brilliantly.

and it's wax. apparently most furniture polishes don't actually have wax in them any more, but this gal recommends orange glo, which is cheap and easy to find, and works. i spray the glass, let it sit for a while (the longer the better, but at the very least several minutes. go do your yoga workout, or get dinner started, or move the laundry through, or make all the beds, or snuggle into your favorite chair and indulge in two chapters of your current book) and then go back and rub and rub and rub.

you will be amazed at how sparkling and streak-free your glass looks.

assuming it works on glass tables the same way, that is. can't think why it wouldn't.

she has me use an actual cloth, not newspaper or paper towels. a chamois would eliminate the potential for any lint.

if you try this, please let me know if it works well!

if it doesn't, it should clean up just fine with vinegar. which won't solve your original problem, of course. but it's worth a shot!

My solution is to sell your glass table and get one that is not glass.

As long as people will be touching the glass you will have finger prints, streaks, etc.. I would just use a sponge with some dish cleaner and then wipe it off with paper towels, I wouldn't bother moving the glass if it is that heavy just clean it where it is.

Norwex. I have never tried it but had a cleaning service that used the cloth and it seemed to work great. I have also heard other people rave about it. Worth a shot!
