What to Serve with Soup?

Ok I'm making a 15 bean soup with ham pieces today. My question is what kind of bread should I serve with it? Ok I know this might sound silly but usually when I make soup there is always some type of bread that I serve along side it for example when we have tomato soup its grilled cheese, chicken noodle maybe toast or saltine crackers, chili (maybe not soup but served in bowl) with cornbread, albondigas with tortillas yes even for our lentil soup I serve oyster crackers. Get my point? When we eat dinner I always have a veggie a side and the main food. So I know when I serve my family tonight a bowl of soup they will be like ok what do we eat this with? I will even be wondering is this it? I know it seems a bit off but any ideas welcome. What do you serve along with your bean soup? Thanks.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Mommas thank you all so much! These bread ideas are great! I might just have to make soup every night this week just to try these different types of bread:) I ended up making buttermilk jalapeno cornbread with a bit of cheese. The soup along with the bread was a hit with my boys (6yrs - 16yrs) two of them were even asking for leftovers for after school snack tomorrow. Thank you all!

I just get a fresh loaf from the grocery's bakery. I love a good fresh french baguette.
Usually, I put a saucer with spices and olive oil in the center of the table to dip the bread in. All of us love it.

I think a nice big rustic crusty bread would be good. If you have a Panera near by they have great choices.

Warning - this is not healthy - I REPEAT - NOT HEALTHY. But so yummy. It's a cheesy, toasty, garlicky toast by Giada. She served it with white bean chili but personally I could just eat a loaf by itself if no one stopped me.

I eat it a lot because I can make up a big batch for the family and then I eat it as frozen leftovers at work. My favorite to eat with it is a nice crusty seedy bread. I ususally get it at the farmers market, but I'm sure if you just go to the bakery section of any store you will find a nice bread to go with it. Otherwise maybe make up some bisquits. The nice thing is to dunk your bread in the soup. Tastes great!

Cornbread! That is what I always make when I do ham and beans.... or 15 bean soup....

Yum!

You can mix some shredded cheese in the cornbread for an interesting taste...

Have some honey for those that like honey on cornbread... yum!

That is the soup I make most often. We use cornbread(Jiffy) and I have used corn rolls(like Pillsbury can), but they were not good. We also have a green vegetable like spinach, turnips, or something everyone can complain about;0)

well, my DH is a diabetic & I'm borderline....so the beans would be our only allowed carb! That said, before diabetes.....I always enjoyed jalapeno cornbread with bean soups!

I also always add finely chopped carrots & celery to my bean soups. Sometimes, I even add ground carrots & celery to my chili/meatloaf. Drives my DH nuts if he sees me do it....otherwise, he's clueless. As for my sons.....they love the vegie additions!
