What to Put in a Locket for MIL for Christmas

I got my MIL a pretty, engraved locket. It would hold two pictures about 3/4 of an inch. Rather than putting pictures of my husband and I or my husband and her in it I was wondering if there was something else other than pictures to put in it? Any ideas?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I gave it to her empty. she is going to put a picture of my husbands dead father in one side and her current hubby (who's in a rest home) in the other side. Thanks for the suggestions :)

I say don't put anything in it! That way she can pick out something that she finds important to her and put it in the locket. My mother got me one last year and I love it! She left it empty so I could put whatever I deemed important. Great idea,

Well, in Victorian times, they would put in a lock of hair of a loved one or someone who had died. A lock of YOUR hair or your hubby's might be sort of creepy- but a lock of your kid's hair tied with a little ribbon scrap and a picture would be sweet. or maybe a dried and pressed flower??

You could put in a favorite Bible verse or quote. Or, a pretty scrapbook piece of paper so she can replace it with whatever she would like. If there is enough space, a small dried and pressed flower, or a small piece of cotton sprayed with perfume.

Are their any grandchildren? If so, maybe a picture of the grandchild. What about a picture of your MIL's parents or your MIL & FIL?

Other than pictures...four leaf clover, a petal from her favorite flower, a lock of hair from a grandchild...grasping here but trying to help.

Or you can just leave it empty for her to enclose what she holds dear.

Maybe a baby pic of your hubby and, depending upon how many kids you have, one of your child.

Do you, by any chance, have pictures of her parents? That might be sweet. Is she married? Her (their) wedding picture on O. side & a current pic of the couple on the other?

My mother has a locket I gave her. She put in baby pictures of her grandchildren, and as she added grandchildren, added more lockets to the chain. She now has pictures of all 5 grandchildren there and loves to wear it. The grandchildren loved to open the locket when they were small to see their baby pictures. So, depending on how many grandchildren your MIL now has, she might enjoy having baby pictures of them. Or I also like the idea of leaving the locket empty so she can decide what to put inside.
