Hello everyone. My son is 8 1/2 months old he's been eating stage 2 Gerber foods and loves them and does really well with them, I've recently started to buy some of the stage 3 so he can get used to the different textures of food and chewing. He has his two bottom front teeth and the top front 4 are almost all the way through.

However he doesn't like stage 3 at all he makes the funnest faces to show that and then acts like he is going to vomit and then just spits the food out. We were having spaghetti the other night for dinner and I cut up the noodles real small and gave him that to see if he'd like it and he did. So i'm guessing maybe the stage 3 just doesn't taste good to him.

So i'm really just wondering what are some healthy things other mom have started to give kids about his age that he can eat and doesn't take forever to prepare.

What can I do next?

When my older son (he is 9 years) was a baby, I tasted that food. NASTY!!! I spit it out and made faces!!:) He had #1 & some #2 foods then I would grind up his food. I had a small Black & Decker Handychopper. It was easy to clean and could keep it right on the counter.

I plan on grinding up foods for my 6 month old when he is ready for a chunkier blend of food. We are still in stage 1 foods, which he loves.

My son hated stage 3. We simply went to "big people" food. Our ped told us we could do this around 9 months. Start slow & give him small bites of whatever your eating. See how he does. Cherrios are also great. It doesn't matter how many teeth that he has. My daughter only had 4 teeth (the middle top & bottom) She loved raw carrots & apple slices. I noticed that she used the teeth to scrape off a bite & chewed with those gums. She did great. At this age, he can have almost anything. Our ped said to wait on berries, eggs, & nuts. Other than that, anything goes.

My daughter is also 8 1/2 months too, I feed her almost anything, if I make chicken, we cut off very little pieces and give them to her, she loves angel hair spag, apple sauce, mash pots, pudding, jello, we feed her pizza, not the cheese of course, but if you peel the cheese off, the soft part that has the sauce on it, we feed her little pieces of that.. I also bought a baby food grinder which you can buy at babies r us for 13.00 to cut up other things, but at this point stay away from corn, any type of crust ( corn & crust cause belly aches I know from experience, like the other mom said my ped said no berries, no nuts, and watch milk products for an allergy which my daughter has no we cant use sour cream, milk, or vanilla ice cream she gets a rash.. good luck to you

My little guy loved stage 2 food and spit out stage 3 food. After talking to other moms and my ped, I started giving him our food. I did start cooking a little more bland to not overwhelm him but he has been on solids since then and has loved it!
