I'll be reading all of the responses you get. I have been thinking about being a surrogate myself! Good luck with it all.
Okay Mom's... I need some "my experience was..." stories. I am working with an agency in Dallas and they have paired me with a couple in Houston that is wanting me to be their surrogate mother. I have 2 kiddos of my own... made the "old fashion" way. Since genetically this child is not mine I will be having IVF. I would like to know what your experience is with IVF and what to expect. I will have to travel f/ here to there for the 1st trimester but after that I am able to go back with my OB-Gyn through the duration of the pregnancy. Thanks for the input!!!!
Moms... you are awsome! I am blown away by all of the responses tha I got about being interested in being a surrogate!!! It's an amazing feeling to be able to help someone else with such a wonderful gift! The agency that I am using is SSA (Surrogacy Specialists of America) http://www.ssa-agency.com/html/EnglishHomePage.html
It did feel like jumping through hoops to be accepted but once you get there it is so easy! Within 3 days of being accepted I was presented with a couples profile. That one fell through since the couple decided that they wanted to wait a litte longer but 3 weeks later (this past Monday!) I got another profile of another couple and it's moving like wild fire!!! The agency will handle all of the legal stuff with both parties present and they work as the middleman throughout the entire process. They will arrange the meeting with the couple and myself and my husband and the parents can/will play a major part of the pregnacy! This way I actually "know" the parents as the baby grows and it won't feel like I am handing this child over to strangers and never hearing another word about it! I stongly suggest to think it over for quite a while before deciding to do it... but when you decide to move ahead it's the best feeling in the world! Good luck and thanks for the info!!!!!

I don't have my own story, but I would love to have one! I have always wanted to help a couple that is unable to have their own child the "traditional" way. What is the agency that you went through? I would like to gather as much information as possible so that when my husband and I decide the time is right, then we know what we are going to do. I think this is a wonderful blessing that you are giving someone!

i know this is coming over late but I just think you are amazing for doing this. I couldn't get pregnant and we finally adopted (which was an amazing experience) but if it weren't for people like you, then people like me couldn't have a child. I just think you are so brave and gracious for doing this and I just wanted to tell you that. Good luck with everything and you cannot imagine how thankful the couple you are doing this for will be. I will never forget the birth mother that gave our precious daughter to us.

What a great gift you are giving to this couple. I just completed my first round of IVF. We are trying to conceive baby#2. Unfortunatley, the IVF cycle was NOT successful for me. However, I do not think the process was too bad. The protocol of meds I was on had me starting with Lupron injected into my stomach once a day for about two weeks. These are very small needles and I coulndn't even feel the prick. Then, I added Follistim and Menopur, also injections in the stomach (small needles). I had to go for quite a few sonograms for them to be able to keep watch on the follicle development. Once it looked like my follicles were at the right size, I took one more "trigger" shot...Then I went in for the egg retrieval. I suppose you don't do this part since you are carrying the baby but not supplying the egg. When you do the embryo transfer, it's painless and fairly quick. It's kinda like a pap-smear. You will probably be asked to do besrest for 24 hours after embryo transfer, then you just kinda take it easy for about 12-14 days until the pregnancy test. That's it!
