What to Do with Wet Swimsuit in the Morning After the Gym?

Hi all, so as you may have read last week, I got a job finally! Yippee. Its about 35 minutes away, but with traffic its going to take about an hour and half/two hours to each way. So, hubby and I decided that I could leave an hour early in the morning and go to the gym next to my work so that I can still get exercise and not have to sit in traffic. At this time in the morning it will take the 35 minutes. But, when I swim, my suit will be wet and I can't leave it at the gym to hang up and dry. They don' t have spinners or dryers, so what do I do with it all day? If I leave it in my bag it will be musty when I get off and I don't have the energy to wash it every night, so, anyone have any ideas? I only have 2 so I could switch back and forth, but that seems kind of silly and that it would be hard on the suits. Oh, the pool is salt water, not chlorine if that matters. Thanks for any ideas you have, I appreciate it.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for the great ideas. I'm going to try letting it dry in the car while I am at work and see how that goes. I have a wagon so it can lay flat in the back. I like the milk crate idea so that it can have air. I'm in Portland so it is wet and damp all the time so we'll have to see if this works. Thanks for the ideas I really appreciate it! I am doing training right now and the 12 hour days are killing me, but I guess I'll get used to it. Really its being away from the kiddos that is so hard. But, I am hoping the gym will make it easeir.

I would rinse it out after my swim and then lay it out on a towel in the backseat of the car all day.

After changing, rinse out your suit in the sink to get the pool water out then wrap in a towel briefly to dry it most of the way.
In your car, spread out a towel on your back seat and spread out your suit on it, the suit will be dry by the end of your day.

hanging it may stretch the suit.
laying it flat in the car will make the seat wet.

my vote is to place a plastic milk crate in the car & lay the suit over it. :)

Congratulations on your new job and very smart thinking by managing your time around the traffic!
I agree with the other ladies about taking two towels and leaving the swim suits in the car during the day. I wouldn't hang the suit up as it will stretch down quickly. Sounds silly but I would go to walmart and buy a kitchen drainer and lay the swim suit on the drainer and the drainer on top of a towel with a plastic bag under it and leave it in your back seat. Bring the swim suit and towels home and throw it in a bucket of cold water until the next time you wash.(for me daily). If you have a clothes horse use that for drying overnight.

I would also buy another swimsuit or two.www.swimoutlet.com has great swimsuits for $20-$25 a pair and I have had good luck with the grab bags to. Buy a few extra towels too so the hassel of swimsuits and towels cannot be used as an excuse to not go. 4 days? 3/4/5 swimsuits and 3/4/5 towels. Each suit lasts longer so it's not as wasteful as it may sound.

Remember on the days you really don't really like swimming its OK just to have a long shower and chat (!) as long as you just keep your routine of getting up early and going to the pool. Or throw your runners into the car so you can take a fast walk /run some days to mix it up.
Great plan to swim. Enjoy!

Ring it out really well then utilize the little hooks in your back seat (you know the ones where you can hang dry cleaning) just loop it around those and let it hang and dry while you work?

Hang your towel on one hanger on the drycleaning hooks and your suit on another hanger on the other drycleaning hook.

I would wring it out, put it on a hanger and hang it on the dry cleaning hanger hook in the car over the side window. Put a towel on the seat to catch any drips.

I would take 2 extra towels. After you change and rinse off your suit, place it on top of 1 of the towels, flat and roll it up tight, this will expel a lot of the moisture, then place the other towel flat in the trunk of your car with the suit on top. During the day, the heat of the trunk should dry your swimsuit and the towels.

I've left our swimming things draped over the head rest of the seats in car. You could also lay in on the dashboard, the back, or the seat, even the trunk would work. Is there a place outside your office or in your office that you could lay it out on?

Provided I went to a gym (lol) I'd rinse, roll in a towel and twist, they lay it flat in my trunk during the day. No wet seat, and it should be dry by lunchtime.

Shower with it on at first to clean it. Then hang it on a hanger in the backseat w/ a waterproof pad under it for the drips. They sell them in the baby area.

When you shower rinse out your swim suit and hang it in your car - if it isn't very far away to get to. Don't forget to put a towel under it so if it is damp it won't drip on your seat.

Rinse it, "dry it", then hang it in my car.
