Dumb question, but what are tracking codes on junk mail? I've never paid attention I guess. I just throw it in the garbage!
Hi, I've been getting all of these packages of Cards, and Calendars, etc. from organizations asking for donations. I can't afford to give to every organizations out there. I don't know what is proper etiquette, do I just throw the cards/calendars in the trash, or do I write RETURN on the envelope, and send it back? I just wanted to know what everyone else does with this kind of mail, since I'm sure I'm not the only one that gets it.
Thanks,
M.

I agree with Rebecca - use the stuff! If it's personalized, they wouldn't be able to do anything with it if you returned it anyway, so you might as well put it to good use.
We toss it away or if there are tracking codes, we put it in the burn box and take it camping with us to burn in our campfire. The only one I make donations to is Juvenile Diabetes But that is only bc my daughter is a JD.
I throw it in the garbage.
Uh We keep it and use it. If the company or non-profit org. wants to send it to us, we are under no obligation to send them $$ for something we didn't ask for. We only donate to St. Jude and in return we get address labels and a calender once a year. If the ASPCA wants to send up address labels with fluffy little kitties on them we'll use them I mean it's silly to let something useful go to waste.
What I do is send what I can which is not much, and then I send their literature, cards and calendars, etc back to them with a note asking them not to send me anymore material and that you give when you can. I haven't received any negative responses to this and the amount of stuff I get is slowly diminishing. Hope this helps!!

We use it and or trash it. We donate to certain organizations each year of our choosing. I don't like it when organizations try to guilt you into donating. Anyway, most of us can't afford to donate to every worthy organization that needs us.
i recycle all junk mail. we can't afford to donate to all of them either (who can?), but at least the paper gets recycled!
Its gets trashed.. The junk mail that has tracking codes on the envelope we shred.
