My daughter is older and when we've been there (twice) she enjoyed the museums, etc. The first time, we stayed close to the Capital and in the middle of all the action. The second time, we were a lot further away and took the train in to the city.

The last time we were there, we were in walking distance of the zoo and we spent an entire afternoon there....loved it.

Have fun!

Washington Monument...he'll love the elevator and the Natural History Museum (Smithsonian)...he'll love the huge elephant when you walk in!

Take a comfy stroller! There are so many family friendly activities in DC, and so many things to do. I lived there for three years and didn't get to it all! Make sure you pack snacks, and drinks...there are street vendors near the mall, but it can be a little pricey. Enjoy it!

Bring a stroller and take him everywhere! The Smithsonian of course, but the monuments will be awesome. There are giant statues of soldiers and people. If you can get in the FBI building that might be okay depending on what they do these days. The U.S. Mint to see how they make money. Unfortunately, he may not remember a lot of it, but he will have lots of fun. There are many "awe" moments. Enjoy!.....oh yeah, if he is a little sports man ESPN Zone is fun.....hubby will think so too. Don't forget to ride the subway. Getting off at Arlington Cemetery is futuristic for a little Dallas boy, and he can see the changing of the guards. Just be sure you have a stroller that folds down so that he can sleep when it gets to be too much.
