I am just looking for something to do but can't pin point what. I love crafts and watching HGTV. Wouldn't mind being a realtor but would rather be enjoying my weekends away with the family. What is there to do? I don't want to sell things. Tried that.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I'm interested in scrap booking and as I posted earlier, I am looking for some really good books to teach me how. I help out at my children's school and would love to be a teacher's aid but it takes 4 years I believe. I LOVE kids but don't want to do the day care thingy now that mine are all in school. I'm thinking about making jewelry or something fun and that maybe I could sell on Ebay.

I started making soap and candles, and crocheting things...and hope one day have my own business...like a gift shop.
I loved the entire process of it, the research how to make things and than making it and giving them away..and also selling...
I would say pick something that really interests you and go with it.
I can't go to crazy right now, since I have that big family of mine to take care of...

We have a friend that leads kids birthday parties and they do crafts depending on their interests. The kids LOVE her and she is a popular entertainer.

How about scrapbooking?

Do you like to cook? Something I'm working on my spare time is taking all my cooking mags, cutting out the recipes I like, and pasting them on to card stock. I try to pretty them up with pictures from the magazines, etc. Then I slip them into page protectors and put them in a notebook. When I'm done, I'll have all my favorite recipes in one notebook, instead of spread out in several magazines. It takes up less counter space, too.

Do you have a bachelors degree? You could be an elementary school art teacher. If not, maybe you could market yourself to daycares as an activities director. You could organize field trips and craft projects as a full time employee or contract with several. You will need to make a portfolio of your successful projects and come up with a fee schedule. Do some research in your area. If you have the money you could open a paint it yourself pottery store. As a mom of 4 kids you have a lot of experience with kids - that's why all my suggestions deal with kids. Another idea I have is to replicate someone elses good idea in your area. For instance, there is a princess party business here. They do tea parties and do the girls hair and nails and makeup. You can do it at thier studio or they will come to you. If I lived anywhere else, I would open a business based on that business model. It wouldn't take much $ to get started. Nail polich and glitter hairspray dont cost much!

Teachers aides don't have to have any college. They just need to have a high school diploma. It would not hurt if you did decide that school is what you'd like to do to enroll in some local classes part time.

You can go online to your local school website and look under employment opportunities to see if they are hiring.

There should be a section at the local libray that is about scrapbooking. Also check with the local scrapbooking stores about scrap crops and if they hold them or know of a store that does. I love going to them. There is usually a small fee, to pay for some supplies and refreshments. Everyone sits around and makes a page or two and learn some new concept. They are fun and they also help you make friends with others that enjoy the same crafts.

There are companies that are scrapbooking businesses, they sell scrapbooking stuff and it's your personal business. You go to places and hold a scrapbooking crop and people come in and pay the fee, then you use lots of the stuff you sell and they like it so much they buy a lot of it.

I cannot remember the particular name of the one I went to but the quality was superb. Maybe you can google it.

What are you good at? Skip the realtor route...too many out there with no income already. Are you looking for a job? or a start-up business? If there is a craft that you have talent in, sell the item on e-bay. I think we need more information as to what your goals are...

If you have four kids, you could sell their outgrown clothes & shoes on ebay. It's really easy to do and I have made decent money--kids clothes really sell on ebay.
