Hi moms:

I have received such good advice on my previous requests, I am hoping you all have some good suggestions for a treat to bring to school for my sons birthday. He just started kindergarten, at his school they celebrate once a month for all the kids who had birthdays that month. The rule is we can bring a treat but sugar cant be in the 1st three ingredients. (in other words no cake cupcakes cookies) does anyone have a suggestion for something that is some sort of treat that follows those guidelines. ( I cant bake) I have thought about sugar free cake or cookies but yuck !

Thank you in advance

You can try yogurt parfaits - use organic yogurt so sugar isn't so prevalent and add fruit and granola in layers - you could put them in clear cups and put a cherry or strawberry on top. Or you could make something out of fruit. You could make fruit skewers and at the end put a bigger rounder piece of fruit like a melon ball or strawberry and make that a caterpillar head - maybe add mini m&ms as eyes - that's not a lot of sugar. You could create some other kind of animal out of veggies too. And either way you could give little cups of plain yogurt to have the animals swim (dipped) in if you felt like it wasn't big enough.

I was a class mom last year and even though it was for a holiday, the same theory would hold true...

You can bring in hot pretels, for example and have the kids decorate them with food coloring...we live by my kids school so they were easy to keep hot

Or, if ice cream wafer cones have a low sugar content, get multi colored ones and have the kids fill them with trail mix -or- brign them in pre-filled and wrapped in colorful cellophane as a take-home treat!!

I hope that helps :)

L.,

What about some sugar free gelo?

They make some cool molds such as shapes and numbers.

I don't know what your budget is, but I would get an arrangement from edible arrangements. They make gorgous fruit arrangements.
