What Time Does/did Your 6 Mo. Old Go to Bed?

My 6 month little wide eyed wonderer has been going to bed around 7 every night. We have a great routine going and by 7 she is ready to sleep! However, she wakes up around 1am hungry and after that she is wide awake ready to play. Eventually she falls asleep again but is up almost every hour either crying or talking to herself. I have tried to let her cry it out and prefer not to do that again. So, I thought maybe moving her bedtime might work and was wondering when your little cherubs have/had gone to bed and when they are up. Just to get an idea...

What can I do next?

Mine takes a nap around 7:00/8:00 at night, sleeps for about an hour, wakes up, takes a bath, we read a book, then have a glass of milk, then bed. It's usually around 9:30/9:45 when he goes to bed. He's been taking the late nap since he was about 2 months old and has been sleeping through the night since.

I would just try a later bed time and see what happens. I don't see anythign wrong with a late nap if it seems to help her. And it give you a break at night to watch your favorite program or grab a bite to eat.

Hi Emily,
I am a SAHM too. My sons schedule is he goes to bed around 10 and he wakes up at 10. He has been doing this since he was about 7 months. It took some time but it works for us. Maybe you should try laying her down a little later than 7. I would try 9pm first to see how she does. Goodluck!

I have a 5 month old baby girl. Usually I try to give her last feeding at 830 or 900 that way she can sleep through the night.

That is what works for me.

My little one has always wanted to start bedtime routine (bath) around 5:45-6 and then nurses to asleep by 7 at the latest. Now with the time change, I'm able to stretch things out a bit. But she's still waking during the night at least once :(

But I do remember around 6-7 months she went through something similar to what your daughter is doing....due to teething. Our pedi. warned us that between 6-9 months babies tend to wake up for several reasons: teething, milestones (standing up, crawling, etc.)

Hopefully it's just a phase that will quickly pass :)

My son is 8 months now.. I give him a nap around 12 and he sleeps until 2 or 3. Then I keep him occupied until 7:30, then he gets a bath, then a bottle and goes to bed by 8-8:30. It was REALLY hard at first pushing him to 7:30-8:00 without a nap.. but now he knows as soon as I start strippin him down for a bath its getting close to time for bed.. Unless he is going through a growth spurt he usually sleeps until about 7 - 8am. I love this schedule.. he goes to bed early enough for me to still have some time to clean and do laundry before going to bed. :) Hope this helps !!

Get the book Healthy Sleep Habits for the Happy Child. My baby is 6 months old as well. He goes to bed around 7p wakes around 1a eats quickly returns to sleep until 7a. The book will help you figure out when your baby really needs to eat and when you should not engage them at night. Sometimes, they start waking themselves up for your comapny which may be your problem. Or like others said, he could be going through a developmental milestone, teeting etc. I really would encourage you to get the book though. It really helps you decide on a plan of action!
