What Time Do You Get to Work?

So I am SUPPOSE to be at work at 8:00 a.m., but I am the person who is walking in at 5 after. :) I do however work through lunch most days and don't get paid for it. So it is a give take relationship. My boss doesn't really care either.

So what time do you have to be at work and what time do you get there?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

When it comes to appointments I am always at least 5 min early if not 10. I really struggle with getting here by 8. It seems I can leave home 10 min earlier and still get here at 5 after. Ugh!

I have to be there at 9 and I am there at 9. Being prompt and reliable is pretty important stuff. Being 5 mins late on a regular basis shows nothing but disrespect for the rules, looks really bad to the other employees and seems to carry some "control" issues with it.
Being on time would be better, you are a role model to someone..... remember that.

I'm lucky enough to have flexibility. The earliest I can do is immediately after dropping off DS at school at 8:30, then it takes me 30 to 60 minutres depending on the office location for the day...so 9-9:30 is my start time and I work til 5. Twice per week.

I was always early unless there were unforeseen traffic / weather problems.
Seriously, I was the one who turned the building lights on and got a pot of coffee going. And because I was the first one in (I got the BEST parking spot), I was also the first one out in the afternoon.
Now that I work from home, I'm at work (at my work computer) as soon as the bus picks my son up - usually a few minutes before 8am.
My husband really envies my commute these days (across the living room).
My boss is in San Fransisco so she's several hours later than me (unless there is a conference call in another time zone which requires her to dial in at 3am her time). I have all my reports ready for her and waiting in her In email box usually before she has a cup of coffee.

You would be fired where I work, We have to be in our department and ready to work at 5:30am, we can clock in at 5:17am but it doesn't start our time until 5:30. We have set times for our breaks and lunches and have to go to them. My previous job I would be on time but started working loads of overtime so the boss didn't care if I was late as long as my job got done.

I have two jobs, which I work in shifts. They are in the same building, and I can work from home with my part-time job...My part time job starts at 6:00 am (until 8:00 am) and I get in around 5:30 am (Detroit traffic is a nightmare!) Full time starts at 8:00 am until 4:30 pm. Then run home do a few things (walk the dog, dinner, etc) and usually work from 6:30 to midnight. My bosses are never here, and know that my work is always done... so if I am late, which is very rare, they do not say anything.

I work from home running our company. My hours are all over the place.

I'm usually in the office checking emails, etc by 8, work a while on the books and get important things in order. Then I do a little work around the house, do my volunteer things at school, we typically eat lunch out to step away from the "office". I am back in most all afternoon and many many times at night.

Running your own company is basically a 24/7 job but we love it. NON -MLM or direct marketing.

I am required to be at school by 7:20, but class doesn't start until 7:35. I tutor in the mornings though, so I am here every day by 6:45. I also tutor during lunch most days. I treat myself by checking mamapedia before school (after tutoring), once or twice during my conference period, and during lunch (after tutoring). I pick up my own children right after school, so I leave by 3:00 each day. :)

I do home childcare, so my commute is down the 7 steps to the front door to be open for business at 7:00am. I am usually closer to the limit with family bathroom schedules (we only have one full bath right now with showering times all in there for 3 of us)...and I do not open my door before 7am even if I am already puttering about (parents know this and we all have our clocks set the same).

Usually I am down a few minutes before 7 to get things started for the day...tea or coffee made, maybe run the vacuum over the entry rug quick, get the home made baby food out to thaw and breakfast started for the bigger kids, etc. Most days kids are not arriving until about 7:20, except for one family, so its a slow start to the day most of the time for me =)

most days I arrive at 8 (office "opens" at 8:30). On Fridays I arrive around 7. Most days I only take a .5 lunch and I leave by 4 or 4:30.
I am salary, so working more or less doesn't help or hurt me other than meeting my deadlines and getting work done.
My boss just want's to be sure we have departmental coverage for media and other vendor calls:)

Before I was a sahm (not until after I had my second child) I was at least 5 minutes early for work if not 10 same goes for any appts, playmates, etc I hate to be late for anything. My son's soccer coach says it best if you are early you are on time, if you are on time you are late, if you are late you run.

I have to be in at 7:30. I usually get in between 7:29 and 7:35. My boss is in a different office so he doesn't see (but he's late a lot himself). However, another employee who is in my office, who is a step above me and a step below my boss, once gave me a lecture on work ethic and being 100% there for 8 hours a day. I give it my best shot; that's all I can do!

Ha Ha! I think you are my twin. I open the place where I work and my boss usually manages to stroll in at least 2 hours after I get there so I don't stress about it too much. Every day I say, I am going to get to work by 8:15 today, but I usually get here about 5-10 mins later than I say I am going to.

My start time is 8:30. I'm usually pulling into the parking lot at 8:25, so I'm at my desk by 8:30. I think it's really important to be on time, whether it's ok with your boss or not.

My hours get switched every week, 6:45a-7am and 8am. I sometimes have good days when I am 10 min early, sometimes I am running to make it on time.
Working through lunch and not getting paid for it?? I do that out of guilt.
so i agree its a give take relationship.

Supposed to be at work at 6 am, usually logged in by 5 am - I work from home. I work till 3, don't typically take a lunch since I'm at home I eat at my desk. I do take 30 minutes here and there to get the kids to school and take a shower. I'm salaried, so I work till the work is done whether it's 40 hours a week or not, and it's usually more.

I have to be at work by 8:00 as well, but am usually early- between 7:30 and 7:45 to get things done before all the interruptions start. I usually take about 20 extra minutes for lunch on Fridays, but most days are less than an hour. I am also supposed to be off at 5, but usually wind up leaving the office at 5 to go the bank or the Fed Ex drop box. My boss doesn't really care either. He knows I often take work home and that I come in early. I just wouldn't flaunt it around co-workers so there are no accusations of favoritism.

I have 24/7 access to my office and ability to work anytime within that time frame. I hate not having set hours since there is no way to be early. :( I leave with enough time to get anywhere 15 minutes early. Sometimes that means getting there 30 to 45 minutes early but I am never late.

I set my work schedule during the school year to six hour days when I have my kids and 10 hour days when I don't. During the summer I work either four tens or three 12s to hang out with my kids more.

In the end if your boss doesn't care then what is the problem? Just make sure it isn't an issue, one of my many reports is who is pulling what, like coming in late, most employees have no idea what I track until the powers that be decide it is an issue. What you described wouldn't hit my report but I represent one firm, ya know?
